stupid question... what do I need to remove front wheel

I'm assuming I need a front bike stand plus maybe a rear?? My old bike had a center stand so I never really thought about it when I got new rotors... heh if someone local wanted to be a kick *** guy and help me out that'd be even sweeter. heh

I think in order to use a front stand, you need to have a back stand otherwise you need to hang the front from the lower triples. A cherry picker works or a rafter.

Before you start, break all necessary bolts (brake calipers, axle, axle pinch bolts). A rear stand and a jack underneath the front of the engine (as far forward as possible) works well. I never done it but some have said you can use a jack with the side stand (extreme caution).

As north said, ratcheting tie downs or a come-along from the front end to the rafters or some other sturdy overhead truss is the best way. Use the jack to lift the bike and cinch up the straps as you go. You'll need to get the tire a good 1 to 1 1/2 inches off the ground to clear the fender.

Support the brake calipers so they don't hang from their lines. I use short bungee cords.

Get a clymer or hayes manual as the factory manual usually skips stuff like this with general directions like: "remove front wheel".

Also when you put it back together tighten everything else but keep the pinch bolts loose and put the front wheel up againts a wall. Without using the brakes bounce the front end a few times. This sets the fork tubes evenly so there's no stiction, then tighten pinch bolts.

well I'm gonna goto the duncan dealer locally and see if they can help me out... If it costs $20 for them to install it or something (shouldn't be more then an hour labor) then fine... If they're real cool they could let me do it in the parking lot for all I care. should be difficult...
