Speed

Re: Speed
I really haven't had the SH up to top end yet To many curvy roads around here When I had my Hayabusa I did manage to top out the speedo once when I lived in Ohio. Not sure how fast it was but it was fast enough.

I Hit 150 Just coming out of 4th gear and then let off at the beg. of 5th gear. So 6th gear red lined should be more then 160.. I think.... when the snow lifts i will give it a whirl and let you all know....

163. 9100 RPM in 6th, stock gearing. Don't know what indicated was, all I saw was the top of the tach (didn't look any further down at that speed). The 'busa I was following wasn't fully in it, as I stayed just off his tail until ~150, at which point he started pulling away. When I backed out and got a chance to look at the speedo I was doing 110 and it felt like I was crawling. I've since gone to the 15/41 combo and the fastest I've been since the changeup is 140. Both speed passes were in or around Dayton OH. Plenty of straight flat road near there (sections anyway).

Re: Speed
Speedometer siad 165 in fith gear redlined thought I was topped out after lettimg off rpms did not drop very fast lifted up shift lever and hit sixth gear this bike has terriblle headshake but can not afford steering damper I also realize speedo is not correct but it is fun testing it from time to time!!!

Neil if you have head shake get it checked out, a damper is just a band-aid. You really shouldn't have head shake mine is smooth all the way to red line. It could be as simple as tires but I don't get any shake at high speed. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Speed
135mph est. in the lower middle of 5th gear. stock gearing. I was following my friend on his R1. back road just beyong chicago suburbs. I let him get a ways in front of me, and then made sure he didn't go any farther. he says his digital speedo was reading 141. I didn't bother paying attention to mine. so I figure 135.

Isn't that a little fast in the snow?

+1 to what Superhawk22 said. May get a bit of headshake coming out of corners hard as the front lifts or landing a wheelie a bit crossed up, but not straight-line at speed. Definetly get that checked out.

Re: Speed
I have the sprocket vs speed excel sheet on my laptop and that's about right, the excel sheet said 133.8 at 8500 rpms with your gearing and 148mph at 9500 rpms. Not too bad, that speedohealer is pretty accurate.

Where did you get it?

I don't really remember. If you want it, send me your email and I will email it to you. It is just an excel spreadsheet where you can input your own setup and it will tell you the speed at any rpm

Re: Speed
Thaks for the advice on the head shake guys it may not be as bad as described it almost feels like the front end is light under heavy acceleration and the momentem of shifting wiggles the front end it never felt highly unsafe although after thinking about it any little wiggle is unsafe in the tripple digits it was also VERY windy here that day could this play a factor? also were would I start looking for problems? the steering head? thanks again.
