Speed at 4K RPM ?????????

Speed at 4K RPM ?????????
Can somebody with stock gearing take there bike out and tell me what speed they are showing at 4000rmp in 6th gear???
I did did the -1/+2, then swapped front back to 16T, but left rear in. Now I'm driving 10-12 miles each way on I65 where speed limit is 70MPH, and I'm drinking gas on this run unless i take it easy and stick to speed limit. Toying with putting stock rear sprocket back on to bring the rpm's down some in 6th, but don't want to do so if the chance is not noticable at those speeds.

Cool, thanks. I'm reading about 75, but thats also figuring changed gears, so probably 70mph actually.
hmmm... probably worth it then, since I normally run 5-10 over anyway, and I seem to conserve gas running 4K vs the 5K it takes to push it higher.

Using this spreadsheet, it has the Superhawk gearing already in it. Just put in your your sprocket sizes and see what rpm's you're running in any gear. With a 16x43 at 4000rpm you should be running at 66.9 mph.

The calculated road speed for a VTR 6th gear/stock sprockets/4k rpm is 71 mph.
Also, unless your talking about an old bike with a cable drive off the front wheel speedo, the speedo will report the same speed at the same rpm regardless of sprocket changes.

People can answer that question but it's really just a survey of how close their speedometers track rpms in sixth gear. It doesn't tell you how fast they are actually going. If the speedo reads 75 mph at 4000rpm with stock sprockets and you change to -1 front and +4 rear (or whatever), the speedo is still gonna say 75mph at 4000 rpm.
With a plus 2 rear and stock front, you've got about a 4.5% increase in rpm at any given road speed.
Stock sprockets in 6th equal 71 mph at 4000 rpm
43 rear and stock front equals 68 mph at 4000 rpm.

We are talking indicated speed on the speedo. Most cars, trucks and motorcycles read at least 2 mph high at that speed. My '05 VTR probably reads about 4 mph high which, when speedo error is factored in, would match the calculated speed of 71 mph.
