Crashed once after 4 years of riding. Misjudged a turn and found my front tire in a bunch of gravel. I didn't know you could tuck in a front tire that fast. I always wear all my gear no matter the temp outside. I don't know why people say laid down. That sounds too soft it was more like slammed down.:( Worst part is my bike slid into a very stout mailbox post that blew away my headlight and front fairing. Total loss of those parts. Oterwise it would only have been minor road rash.

As Ed Bargy said, "Crash more than once or twice a season, maybe you should try sailing"

I say, aggressively defensive riding, intense focus, big horse sense, and good attitude are all key in prevention. Most crashes are caused by more than one negative input. (Little old lady looks you dead in the eye and pulls out right in front of you, gravel on road, you were looking at the granddaughter's boobies and not the road) Work on making sure you aren't one of them.
NO inebriates and riding whatsoever! (no, you're not that good)
High speed reduces everything, recognition ability, reaction, and your chances.
You don't have to crash. You do have to dress for it.
Thank our Loving God for your chance to ride. Don't waste it!
