Sheepskin Seat Cover anyone?

Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with a sheepskin seat cover? For $70, might be a good remedy for monkey butt on a stock seat. I'd be interested to hear your experience.

i bought one as an impulse to add to my corbin.

i'm still deciding whether I like it or not.

- it limits free flowing seat mobility
+it is soft, warm, and a little X-tra padding

ask me again in about 10k

LOL...You won't ask that question after the first time. Doesn't bother me unless my seat has been in the sun too long. On cool days I don't have to worry about it...only when it's hot out. I pack a white towl to cover the seat when off the hawk and if it's too hot, I leave the towel on the seat and sit on it. I thought about sheepskin, but don't want anything any warmer.

On Animal Planet or Discovery Channel watch the episode on baboons, during estrus the female displays a bright red color to her derriere in order to attract a mate for copulation.

After 200 mile on a vinyl seat on a summer day we look somewhat like that. Talc applied before and during helps. Riders Wearhouse has some magic stuff that works.

I keep a piece of sheepskin about 16 inches square in my bags when traveling and throw it on the seat after a few hours of riding. Makes those last couple hours in the saddle much more comfortable.

That falls under the Too Much Information (TMI) category.

Where the heck is Galway, lolZ!?

I have a Sarg. seat on my VTR that I'm picking up 2morrow, should be fine. I had a Corbin on my first VTR in 98, which worked wonders on long rides..

hahah swamp ***,,ohh monkey butt ok..got it.. there are all these new riding terms im not familiar with,, low side, high side,, monkey butt..i just know most of them under other names i guess.. maybe im too old or too young depending on the orgin of the word. ahahaha monkey butt.

im googling a ton now while reading he forums..getting educated slowly but surely.

and as far as sheep skin did not have it on my bike but had some in a truck i owned.. in the winter omg, amazing.. warm soft comfy.. in the summer.. still soft but the nap turns itchy and kind of clumped a bit.. not nearly as hot as the base seat was.. but definatly held a higher tempurature over time vs just sitting in the stock cloth seat.. so it was kinda miserable long term.. your back and legs would get this kind of one sided sweat going on while your front side was freezing cold from the ac running and blowing on you..

you know come to think of it.. i have to say it was not that great in the summer time at all in the truck. my guess for the bike though would be that you can just stand up on the pegs.. dry off the contact side of your body with the sheep skin seat cover and probably really enjoy it. that was not really an option while riding along in the cage seat belted in.

Mike,

Had a nice ride with the more conservative Aprilia Mike today. He said it was good to ride with someone who keeps a faster pace than he usually does, he doesn't have a clue! Thought we might see you at the gas station.

Sargent was having an overstock sale on a vtr1000 seat with a matching blue welt, I got weak and went for it.

What's up with you?

i have to say that the sheepskin option is certainly attractive on hot days or long rides.. i had one on my old bike and loved it. only problem is that you have to remove it when you're done if you dont want it to get wet (assuming you will use it in the cold/wet weather as well). dont have one on my new bike but the old one i picked up for $15 from a place fairly local to me.

cheap sheepskin

If you're looking for "cheap" sheepskin look at tandyleather.com. It works for me 1890miles to and from sturgis.

my wife has one and swears by it. I personally don't like it...but try it. If it works for you, go for it. If not, re-sell it or return it.

Actually, just bought a Sargent seat and put it on tonight. Very nice and looks as cool as it feels. So..........if anyone is looking for a stock SH seat, one of Andrew's (cornandp) fine aluminum tail racks and a black sheepskin and gel seat pad, they're for sale!

Try 750 miles in a single day, after riding 1000 miles in two days. On a stock seat.

BluStreak,
+1 on the Sargent. I've had mine for a year and a half, and it gets even better after it breaks in.

Sheepskin covers are for Wingers.
