set off car alarm?
i think i set off a car alarm tonight. i parked beside it, revved the bike a bit and the alarm went off. it was the headlights flashing and the horn blowing, like the owner pressed the panic button on the key fob. it turned off. revved bike again and the alarm went off again. i did this three or four times.
has this happened to any of you?
maybe the owner was pranking me!

I drive by a line of cars that park along a city street that curves slightly to the left. Typically I'm accelerating through the apex and often I set off car alarms. Staintune highmount exhaust with quite tips removed.

I set a few off at the parking lot at work. my neibor has a really touchy one on his bike that goes off every time I WALK past it. And my wifes bike when she asked me to put her windshield back on for her while she was at school....I don't have keys for that one so it had to wait.

Need more car alarms around here. My Vance & Hines S4 Ti's are like riding on dynamite sticks going off. No car alarms yet tho'. I was pretty worried I was going to get pulled over when I first bought the bike. Now... I like it

My '86 CB700SC Nighthawk with a Supertrapp 4 into 1 stainless would set off car alarms, including mine in my condo carport 20 years ago.
Also my wife's first bike, an '05 EX500 which I put a Muzzy full stainless 2 into 1 system on, would regularly set off alarms while riding around town.

My buddy in high school(Senior year 1986) had that same bike with a 4-1 Supertrap. That was a great bike!! He still rides today, now he's on a ZX-10.

Yes, the 700 Nighthawk was nice. I sold it after 5 years with 48,000 on the odo.
The EX500 Muzzy full system is very loud. When I would ride it to work to do an oil change, I'd short shift going through town at 6:30 AM.

+1 on the LEO VINCI. I set off alarms or at least get a chirp from them pretty frequently. When they are parked on the street or in a garage. The bird just sounds fierce.

A-1-A in Miami I set off at least 40 while looking for a parking spot. Funny thing is I did not even hear them. My friends were behind me in a car DYING. They told me about it after we found a parking lot.

Ever since I installed the stock mount Erion cans I set off car alarms, and every morning (5am) I twist through a couple of apartment complexes.
At 1st it was really by accident but now it is just plain fun.
No matter how bad those SH mirrors are they do show the flashing lights in the distance.

2Bros also, and have always set off car alarms.
Couple years ago my cans were falling apart. Seems the rivets had loosened up after the last re-packing. I eventually fixed that problem, but in the interim, I decided to make my own "mufflers". They were essentially 2-1/2" aluminum tubing attached to some header pipe adapters I machined myself (I'm a machinist,BTW). They were nothing more than mega-phones with no baffling whatsoever.
Needless to say, they were lots o' fun. I'd pass guys on harleys, and at the next light they'd be asking,"GD, you think that's LOUD enough"! Fun was had by all. Yes, the 2 Bros were fixed and put back on the bike. But, sometimes when I'm feeling a little anti-social (Or when the ROT rally is going on here in Austin) I'll put the mega-phones back on to let people know what a V-twin with REAL HP sounds like with straight exhaust!
Disclaimer: I DID eventually get a ticket for my modified exhaust. Of all things, it was a MC cop on a BMW. I tried to strike up a conversation about his bike, having owned a couple of BMWs (thinking he'd lighten up), and all he could say was ,"I ride a Harley usually, but the county gave me this POC. The Harleys're much better bikes". I assumed he really didn't know what a nice bike was and left it alone.
