Ok well a few years ago I was able to get a second VTR for the price of impound. Previous owner left it on the street and it got towed called the owner and they said i could have it if I paid the impound fees.
Great
Now the bad. Bike didnt run, Chain and sprockets worn the hell out, Beat remus high mounts and ugly beat up aftermarket fairings
Towed it to my buddys garage and worked on it till it started. Gummed up carbs, dead battery, dead regulator rectifier.
Changed the fluids, added fresh gas, charced the battery and got it to fire up
Rode it a few times still need to change the chain and sprockets. after first ride I was wondering what the hell was wrong with the front brakes. Previous owner put the pads in on one side backwards.
Bike was running real hot so I rejetted it, starts and runs a lot better now so i decided to take the fairings off and start the repair job.
Front looked like a mario nava but wasnt sure well then I get to the rear unit and WTF there is a carbon and fiberglass unit under that crappy paint job. Wow.

 

Nuff said!

 

 

Now why in the world wouldn't you want to keep that beautiful paint job? It looks so much nicer than carbon. haha

Ok so finally got the tail prepped for repair. Used one layer of carbon fiber and two layers of glass on top tied the front mounting holes to the rear and epoxied everything. Next is do the bond fill and paint

 

Why you you put that much effort into a Super Hawk and then let it go to hell?

I can't wait to see it when your done overcoming the PO's stupidity.

Sounds like the PO was sniffing some of that carbon fiber resin.

I hope you could save the rotor.

 

your front forks are bent or that aftermarket fender wasn't made very well.

...but a good find none the less.

 

Ok so glassing done. Body filler done. Priming done got a few more body spots to fix that showed up after priming. Should be ready to paint Friday

How bout white

 

Repaired the stripped out front gas tank mounting holes with tineserts replaced all the missing rubber bits for the gas tank. Protons mounted and wired up

 

My girl wanted to customize the bike with some of her personal art work

 

That is gonna be one beautiful Hawk, can't wait for the finished pics!

 

Greg's white Superhawk set the bar pretty high. This one's going to better it. I always liked the whited out Superhawk. White Superhawk with ink is better.

Got a layer of clear on the front as well as a layer of pearl.

My gal just finished the paint on the tail. Next it will be clear, pearl, and more clear.

 

Wow your girl don't fool around! It's got flowers, and red hair and leaves and diamonds and, oh yeah... skulls.

Very interested in seeing this with clear on it

 

All finished for now. Just need to get the title from my soon to be ex and then I can finally register it.
Tank repainting will have to wait till this winter. As well as fix a few other minor items
