Saw a Hawk go by my apartment yesterday

This was the first one I've heard that still had the stock exhaust. I may like the sound even better with the stock pipes as opposed to after market pipes. They sound sweet with aftermarket pipes, but stock it had the quiet, yet still throaty and powerful sound. I was standing in front of our apartment building with several other guys and we all stopped talking, watched and listened as this Hawk rode by, then we all commented about how nice it sounded. It was very impressive!

Mine's still stock, but I haven't had the opportunity to hear it go by. Guess I'll have to find a volunteer to ride my bike for me : )

I personally thought stock was too queit for me but again personal taste comes in here. Are you sure it wasn't a baffelectomy exhaust? Mine was soooo queit I could hear the engine over the exhaust.

Hmmmm mine is starting to sound more quiet the longer I have it.
I used to need earplugs to work on when it was running and while riding.

I probably should have been wearing my earplugs more often, because now the wife complains I don't hear what she is saying anymore.
Funny she thinks I'm ignoring her.

I would NEVER do that!

I think it's called selective hearing.....I know because my wife and I both are suffering from it.

stock you'll hear that annoying whirring noise at 3500rpm. That's why I put aftermarket pipes on mine.

That is just the Mochi mixer mushing up the rice.
It makes for a sweeter ride.

No I'm not, but I've heard several Hawks with aftermarket slip-ons and they were much louder than this Hawk was. How much louder is a Hawk that's had a baffelectomy as compared to one with completely stock exhaust?

Depends on how it was done, some people just drill small holes until they get the sound they want, others take the whole baffle out. It could've been stock it's been about 6 years since I've heard mine I just seem to remember it being extremely quiet.

All I know is it was quiet, but yet it still had a deep, throaty, powerful sound.

Like I said, it's been a long time and if he/she was getting on it you probably could've heard it, they sound nice with just about any pipe to me.
