Sargent Seats

I talked to Dane at Sargent today to inquire if he just happened to have a SH seat laying around (he didn't). However, Dane told me they can rebuild a stock VTR1000 seat into a pretty good replica of what they used to sell. You would mail them your seat with your contact info, when it gets to the top of the line the tech will call you and discuss what you want them to do. So, a Sargent seat is not out of the question, the process to obtain one is just different.

Yes, but I was not sure if it would be cool to post that info in the thread--some forums get touchy about that...

Just remember, Billy, we'll hold ya to it. If Sargent jacks their price, you're gonna have to cough up the difference.

There is a shop in Mooresville NC called Mean City Cycles that offers the same services. Anywhere from about $60 to $300.

I haven't used them, but they seem to get good reviews.

Well...due to popular demand...

I was told that it would be $275 to reconfigure the foam of the riders part of the seat and to recover the entire seat with marine grade vinyl. If you want the passenger pillion widened that would be extra (but the cowling will not fit). There are other add-ons and extras that can be incorporated as well. The end result would be as close to the original Sargent seat as is possible (or you could do whatever you wanted with additional customizing). Of course, your mileage may vary from the above...no guaranties until someone tries this.

Thanks! That is really good to know. My Sargent seat will need replacing at some point. It took my bike from being almost unrideable for me with the stock seat to enabling 1800 mile 3 day rides comfortably.

Totally agree, best upgrade on my bike. Back when I got mine it cost as much as our living room couch (don't tell the wife) The SHawk went from tolerable to comfortable on those two fill up rides

Sargent had a 10% off sale 2 years ago. Wow....10%. Anyway, I took advantage of it, and, IIRC, I bought the last one in stock.

So, go ahead, hate me
