Rejoice!!! I have a working superchicken again!

been working to get it right for quite some time now. Used a mity vac (1 vac guage) and some ghetto hoses cause my t's were too big, got it pretty close to being right on. I believe it might be just slightly slightly off and am going to try and find someone with mercury gauges to fine tune that. Jets and needles.. Well... Honestly I dunno. I'm back to what I had before - 180f/185r needles 2nd from the top. erion exhaust, stock filter, and I finally finished blocking off everything after removing the pair (been disabled for ever but hadn't finished removing things...). seems to run well. Been so long that I almost forget what is good or what is bad so I dunno. Still kind've annoyed about how much of a pita it is to adjust carbs and I'm absolutely positively gonna make this a track/weekend ***** with a main bike that'll be either an 05 600rr, 06 1000rr, or 03/04 636 (this is the one with the sharper rear end and a side exhaust). Big differences in prices yeah but these are really the only more modern sport bikes that I actually like the look of and well I also refuse to buy suzuki or a piano bike Anyways cheers and I'll have more updates on the never ending project

I just really dislike carbs is all. I accidently scratched my tank today too while reconnecting the gas tank hoses. the bracket that holds the tank on put a nice line on it :-\ Luckily it's pretty much covered by the seat but I may put a sticker or something there. heh

A scratched tank you say? I have a VFR tank that may just fit the bill. Oh, and some funny looking plastics that look like they fit a Superhawk... :P

Congrats on getting the bike up and running! It's a great feeling.

A wheelie? That doesn't prove anything.

I actually did the same thing not two days ago. Fumbling around trying to put the damn hoses on, tank slips.....scraaaatch. Thankfully not to deep/long and probably will be covered by the seat. I should post that as a con towards this bike.

tank bras are horribly ugly and do more damage then good... sorry bud. If I had just paid a little more attention it wouldn't have happened but I was in a rush and well frustrated at the time so... oh well

There's been a tank bra on my bike since new and it hasn't damged the tank in the least. Keeps my Carhartt work pants, belt, and leatherman from scratching the tank in a more comprehensive manner that a petite pad wouldn't. It may be horribly ugly but I think those squiggly pads are worse. Sorry bud.

what's the point of something that protects the tank but hides it. tank pad at least you see the whole thing. Now the clear tank bra things they sell now however which keep the oem look while protecting the paint are different. the leather ones are fugly

Fugly or not it's precisely what I need. I have a couple choices: use a bra which will hide the tank and prevent scratches, or go without and scratch the tank. I'd rather not have scratches, even if the bra covers the tank so you couldn't see them anyway.

To make a blanket statement like "tank bras...do more damge than good" is rediculous. Do you know this for a fact? Would LockhartPhillips and other companies that make bras continue manufacturing them if that were true? Would bras be in use by a fair number of riders if that were true? Even if it WERE true (again, it isn't, for me) it wouldn't matter because the tank is covered to prevent me from scratching it so whatever damage the bra caused would be hidden!

If you don't like bras, fine. I don't like pads. I thought we were here to share our love of riding, not bash each others' choice of accessories.
