Probably a dumb question....but has anybody taken the factory seat to an upholstery (sp???) shop to have it re-worked with memory foam or something?
I like the Corbins and Sargents but a) they are way over priced, and b) it seems like they have you sitting lower and at 6'5" I do not need to be sitting ANY lower! As it is I can move the mirrors around with my knees!
Just Curious???? Seems like I saw another forum where a French guy had done it himself...anyone else seen anything like that?

When I checked with some shops here they did not have the proper foam to do the job. I was told that the foam needed was more dense and resiliant (sp?) unlike the auto, furniture, memory foams they dealt with. I have since found my perfect seat.

Sargent sells just the foam.
I think the link to that home job seat was either somewhere in this forum

I was going to do a recover, and use the foam on an OEM seat, when I found a sargent seat on here for sale....I still have 2 oem seats in my garage, one of which I will put on ebay soon....It would not be that hard of a job, if you can find the foam, or the right material to do it...staples are a Bit_h to punch through the plastic....

Sargent sells both a seat cover for the 'hawk ($70) and blank foam ($20) if you think you can better their expertise. Both sargent and corbin add a more rigid seat base which is considered very important to all day comfort.
Their seats aren't overpriced. If they were (i.e. sucked), no one would be buying them. I've had both corbin and sargent and they both deliver on comfort.
I made my own with blank sargent foam (vfr seat modded to fit the VTR with a VFR tank) and it's way better than stock but not quite as good as theirs. Stapling the cover back on was no prob with a heavy duty stapler. I also used batting and tape to smooth everything out.
