R/R
I believe this has come up before... It's considered bad form/rude to do variations on the same topic in several threads (or the same outright question), splitting up a dicussion into several, often leading in different tangents... You already have more than one thread on R/R's that are only a few days old... Why not keep the discussion there?
You will get the same amount of replies, and this extremely important question won't get lost even if it's not the first post in separate thread... Believe me... And it will get replied to in about the same timeframe, give or take a few minutes...
I on the other hand believe this question have been answered enough times that I personally have nothing new to add... My previous replies are available to be read at your leasure...

This is a really weird question anyway. I'm thinking that because you mentioned "finned" in both the choices listed; you already know the answer to the question. So why even ask it in the first place? The only problem that the R/R on these bikes ever had was the lack of cooling fins, but obviously you already know that...
Fair enough, but truth be told once Honda got smart and started installing the updated models at the factory you rarely had issues anymore. IIRC it's the '02 and before that had all the epic meltdown scenarios. Thats not to sat that the newer ones didn't have lemons, just not as often.
Ok...people keep stating that things are rude/ill-mannered...when people should stand back & look at what THEY are saying....my GOD...quit being rude and just dont reply on a post is all....is it that hard to do?
the reason there are numerous posts is because there are times when looking through NUMEROUS post & or threads to find something...that people wanna be @$$HOLES and act like a hard @$$ or be rude. then people go on tangents just like you are doing now and making posts that cause "DRAMA" INSTEAD OF COMMENTING ABOUT WHAT SOMEONE NEEDS HELP WITH, but cant find a sensible answer at times because there can be posts with alot of BS in it, instead of helpful polite information...for the LOVE OF GOD...grow up & be sensible, polite, humble for once...i bet you were in the starting gates at some part in your life as well...SERIOUSLY...WITH ALL DUE RESPECT...and this goes for alot of people that probably feel the same way...GROW UP & NOT POST COMMENTS THE WAY YOU DID UP TOP ON THIS THREAD.
again...WITH ALL DUE RESPECT... TWEETY

somehow you missed tweety's sig, "harsh to newbies".
Anyways maybe Tweety says what a lot of us decided we were not going to say.
I usually just ignore re-threads.
At any rate there should be a thread stickied that goes over the unspoken rules of forum etiquette.

Usually I keep these responses to PM's... But I'm going to make an exception in your case as you are beginning to annoy me...
The reason it's considered bad form is that it means you have to scroll through 3-4 threads marked as "new" on the forum on the same topic... Not exactly the case in this instance, but the last time it was mentioned to you you had I believe 3 threads with the same topic on the frontpage list of recent topics...
And I'm not following either your grammar or your thinking... No, there are not multiple threads by one person on the same topic beause the very topic has been discussed in numerous threads before... Altough it's true that there tends to be discussion and not facts alone in most threads, that's a whole other issue... It still doesn't justify asking the same thing in more than one place...
If you consider my post to be drama, take your own advice and do not reply to me... I would like to point out though, that my defenition on rude/impolite is just as valid from my viewpoint as your are from your viewpoint... Which one is correct is best judged by someone else, don't you agree?!
So to justify your point of view, please enlighten me... Where have I been rude to you and in what way, feel free to quote as long as it includes a link for people to follow (ie use the quote button)... Just to clarify, having another opinion and expressing it isn't rude or impolite... It's just a different opinion...
The way/language used when expressing an opinion or replying to that expressed opinion however can be impolite or rude... Calling me and ***, or ******* is impolite for instance... Now, there really isn't any difference in doing it with or without the @$$... That's just a way of making it non-searchable with a filter... It still means the same thing, and you really can't differentiate those from each other in spoken language, even though it's possible in text... And I make a point of not writing anything on this or other forums that I wouldn't be comfortable saying to that person face-to-face... I dunno if you are comfortable calling me and *** to my face? If you are, feel fre to keep doing it in text... Also it doesn't do much good wrapping it up in a bit of generic statements to make it cover more people than just me, since it's fairly obvious that the statement at the very least includes me...
Yes, I was and still is in many areas "just starting" and have lots of questions... One thing I have found to be very effective in getting good answears is to be polite and humble when asking for them... It makes it more likely that people will answear... Even if to my thinking the one's replying are impolite...
As for "forum etiquette" I don't make the policies on this forum, the moderators do... Please feel free to report me to them if you feel that I'm breaking any rules, like "personal attacks"...
As for you more or less expecting us to reply to your questions, following your timetable and your format, basically on your terms... Well, there are forums on the net where you pay a membership fee and there are 24/7 panels of "experts" to do that... Try them if you want to set the rules for how the rest of us should behave... There you actually can set the terms and still get replies... You won't get that from me... I'll keep posting, and I'll keep stating my opinion, and I still maintain that it's not rude to have a different opinion even though you and a couple of other people whom I have discussed this topic with have a different opinion about that... I'll just refer you to the laws in your own country... "Freedom of Speech" is the first one I'd refer too...

BTW as a side note... Did you notice the moderator breaking out the popcorn? I'm not going to make any judgement on his intentions, but he could have stepped in and given me a swift kick in the nuts for breaking the rules... And he still can do that... If I break them... My guess, as long as we are discussing, not going overboard with it he feels that would be unnecessary...
Ha! Tweety has been here for 3.5 years. He has, and I think most forum members would agree, contributed a great deal to the forum.
Christian man30 has been here a few months, apparently doesn't know how the use the search function, all his posts basically boil down to "I've got a problem, please help!" And then he argues with and pisses on the sincere people who give him advice.

Sure. I've never dumped on people for asking a question, even when I knew they could have found 10 threads answering every one of them by taking a few moments to search. I just don't like it when people ask a question and then get snotty with the people who take the time to try and answer.
My final 2cents on this tonite...
1.) When multiple questions are asked in one thread:
It mostly gets touched upon and not really answered COMPLETELY at times (Ive noticed that on a few threads) not all. Which therefore makes it hard to do a search...and read and read and read between snide comments...jokes, gestures and backlashes to find at times (opinions instead of facts) to help out the common SH Rider that needs some assistance.
2.) The reason for 3 "SEPARATE" posts were:
Wont Start...please help Was posted to see if anyone could offer any info (and hopefully not get the sometimes normal "its been posted before" look it up). When someone shouldnt have to scroll through sometimes DOZENS & DOZENS of posts on threads to find the majority facts to help them narrow down their situation, which at times can be different scenarios causing a problem.
R/R ( Regulator / Rectifier ) Was posted to find out if anyone has one for sale.
R/R Was posted to find out which R/R to use & why (and wasnt thought of until after i logged off).
Now... if people cant realize that Im asking humble questions and being humble until someone opens up their "HOTDOG WARMER" to make a snide remark about "ANYTHING"...then they need to back pedal...ask themselves one thing...
AM I A "MAN" AND NOT A "WITTLE BOY" WHOM CAN HELP THIS PERSON WITHOUT REVERTING TO CHILDHOOD ANTICS WHERE I USED TO BULLY OTHER KIDS AROUND IN GRADE SCHOOL CAUSE I WAS ENVIOUS THAT THE OTHER CHILDREN ACTUALLY GOT ATTENTION FROM THEIR PARENTS???
OR, AM I THAT "WITTLE BOY" THAT HASNT REACHED MANHOOD YET AND HAS TO ONLY BELITTLE PEOPLE CAUSE OF THEIR INSECURITIES???
HMMM...THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW...CAUSE THAT "WITTLE BOY" CAN ONLY HIDE BEHIND HIMS WITTLE COMPUTER MONITOR AND FINGER HIMS WITTLE MOUSE TO PLACE WORDS THAT HE COULDNT OTHERWISE SAY FACE TO FACE (ONLY STATE THAT HE WOULD) IF HER WERE IN PERSON AND ACTUALLY BE A "real man"

The sparate thread for purchase of an R/R in the for sale/purchase section is completely fine, and doing that in a separate thread is motivated... Altough it should have been in that section ideally... The third one, that question could just as easily have been added to the first thread, and it would have been answeard there... Infact at that point I would have most likely given you an answer up front... Possibly with a jibe about searching, but still an actual answer...
Now, as for whom is the "widdle boy"... Go up through this thread... Where did I call you names? Where did I belittle you? I have called you rude and impolite, yes... And I feel that's pretty justfied since you have called me "***", "*******", "shallow minded" "bully" and stated that I have "no kindness", and are "no real man"... You did call me a couple of other things as well, probably intended as insults, but I interpret them as compliments... I'm a bit thickheaded sometimes... All of which has nothing to do with the topic... As for you judging if I'm a man, well, I'm really not interested in your opinion on that...
Now since I don't intend to take a trip to the US in the near future, this could perhaps be settled by a meeting on webcam? That would be face to face... Would it be allright if I called you rude there, and you called me the above? Would it help? If not you are welcome to come see me in person since you seem to think I wouldn't call you rude to your face... That is what I have posted here... I have no problem what-so-ever with saying that to your face...
If that isn't satisfactory to you, I will be in LA in the end of the month 28-29... Depending on your location in the US I could probably re-route and meet up with you on the return flight to Sweden... Let me know and I'll make arrangements... It's probably best to exchange adresses/phone nr in PM if that's going to take place... For your benefit, not mine and I believe the rules say no phone no in for sale threads and such, but keep it to PM... I'll gladly post mine openly, I doubt anyone is visiting Sweden to often, and if they do they are welcome to visit...
BTW lets try a little experiment... The answear to your question is in my opinion a R/R from a Yamaha R1/R6/FZ6 since it's beefier, has a large aluminum housing with fins instead of a small thin heatspreader and potting compound... It's also fairly easy to install (Won't bother with that here, there are a couple of threads on the topic with descriptions/images that do a better job...) and so far it's been a positive experience for everyone that has tried it... It's possible that one of these will fail as well, but a lot less likely, if you buy a used, low mileage one or new it should last for the lifetime of the bike...There are others, Suzuki have a few that are good, but this one fit's and works... And are reasonably priced...
BTW I do think that your post above come very close to the line about "personal attacks" that is in the forum rules... I suggest you go read them before you post more, since they are rules you have already consented to when you started posting and are supposed to follow... In theory a moderator could ban you or edit your post... I'm fairly certain they dislike my behaviour as much as I'm baiting you a bit, making this "fight" continue instead of dying out... But I'm also fairly certain that I'm not breaking that particular rule... (could be others I'm breaking, I'm in no way infallable...)... From past experience I'd say that they consider it to be a situation that gets out of hand they will step in, but otherwise they let it be, figuring we are equally guilty of arguing at least...

C-man:
Here is my advice:
1. Just take you bike to the dealer
2. delete your account here and then if you really want to be a part of the forum, sign up under a different name and start over.
remember, we do this for fun, we do not owe anyone anything, and most importantly, this is a shared environment - meaning, I help you, you help me, we all help the other guy.
I was going to respond earlier to your post, then I read it closely, realized that it was non-sensical, and ignored it. That was before I even saw that you were the OP.
I stated this once before, I am the biggest ***** on this forum (sorry Tweety), I just save it for when I am bored. JB

Jeez. The guy with the Captain Trips avatar eager to help anyone with a question or problem lays claim to being the biggest ***** on the mean streets of Superhawkforum. Must be a REAL rough neighborhood!

Hmmm...openly admitting to being a ***** and knowingly instigating certain dramatic situations, which escalate things to these levels on this site...Hmmm...and whom should be banned? Hmmm...go figure.
If things are kept on a professional, friendly level from the get-go without people having to make snide possibly rude remarks...this site & THIS WORLD would be a better place instead throwing GAS in someones face and waiting for the spark to ignite them into FOREST FIRE...so remember as our National Fire Mascot (smokey the bear) says time & time again..."ONLY YOU, CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES"!!!
And for answering my question as to which R/R and why...I thank you very much.

You know... That reply would have been apropriorate to answear my first post... You apparently forgot to insult me or anyone else... Was that an mistake? Do you want to fix that post? (Baiting!)
Otherwise you should probably read it and take the advice you are giving...
My first reply was admittedly not very helpful, it was neither snide nor rude either... As I have stated several times, having a different opinion isn't rude... It's perfectly acceptable in most societies to tell another person that there are certain accepted behavoiur as long as you keep the language while doing so polite... I did... You didn't when you responded...
My second reply still wasn't helpful, it merely responded to you calling me an ***, amongst other things...
However my third reply to you (post #16) was in part what would be described as "baiting"... The other post directed at others was humourous... I have enough self distance to know that others might percieve me as a ***** or whatever term they use... You apparently either haven't achived that yet or choose to ignore it, resorting to name calling instead of discussion... The fact that you use a lot of euphenisms instead to "polish" the surface makes it even more humourous to me...
As for throwing gas... You are completely justified to resent me "correcting" you if you choose that, and if you tell me that using normal language I'll gladly listen... However if you try looking at our conversation with a bit more level head, what comes closer to "throwing gas in someones face"... Me telling you it's bad form/rude (my exact wording)... Or you calling me an *** (by using @$$)? I'm probably biased here, but I kind of think your reply would get the majority vote on that one...
Then if you look at what I wrote, I did not say you should be banned... I didn't say I wanted you banned... I said that you where dangerously close to breaking the rule (forum rule) about "personal attacks"... And that would likely mean that a moderator would completely without my help/promting would warn you, or ban you... Would you have preferred me to bait you more so you perhaps got even angrier and did manage to get yourself banned? Instead of warning you of the possible outcome?
As for escalation... It takes two to make a fight... I'm fairly certain the mods had preferred if I ignored you... I'm also fairly certain they would have/will warn me if they feel I was out of line... I'm willing to deal with that, I feel I have a reasonably clean conscience... How do you feel about yours?
BTW the offer to meet still stands... It's real, no BS... If you prefer it we can even have friendly chat instead of insulting each other?!
Otherwise you should probably read it and take the advice you are giving...

I have searched and searched and found a lot of info but still cannot figure out what is the best option for an R/r.
So far I have seen the two best upgrades being a newer finned unit or a yamaha one. Should I use a finned R/R from a newer Hawk, or a finned R/R from a different bike, like an R6/R1 for example?
I really appreciate the time to answer, thanks guys.
It's been a busy morning, no week, at work. Big audit next week. I'm here now though
I'd ask this of the OP, are you "Christian" and a "man" OR are you a "Christian man" implying a belief in the Christian religion principles?
If you are option #2. You have some forgiveness to ask for. Shall we?
That's blasphemous.
Like Tweety said, even if you use symbols, the intent is still to be rude and some would say crude. Cussing, that's a no-no.
There are too many "wittle" comments.
So I'll end with this question for you. How many times are you supposed to turn the other cheek?
For the record, I am the grandson of a Pastor and the nephew of a pastor. In no way does this make me an expert on things regarding Christianity. Having attended Church since birth, well, that makes me informed and capable of asking question, posing opinions and reminding others of how they are supposed to share their faith.
If you are not a "Christian", then do as suggested, delete your account, use a name that you can accurately represent, such as your given name like I did, and start over. Don't let us know it's you, we might be pre-disposed to answer all of your questions in the same manner as we are currently doing.
Not done after all. I used the search function, and you are the guy who has done just this type of posting before. I refer you to:

Looks like this is a trend for you. You DON'T SEARCH before asking. You re-thread. Bit of advice, if you search and you don't find it, or you look through 4 or 5 pages, you let us know then, then everyone is a bit kinder. The guys who know the key-words will actually find the thread for you, link you to it, tell you to read it and ask questions after that. I've done it for many new guys. I give the search answer, then provide the thread to show that they could have found it.
So as residentg said before in the referenced thread:
That will be my (and maybe some other peoples also) stock answer to you. Take it to the dealer, we can't help you.

Bring it back to the dealer, you questions are beyond our collective scope. JB
