question about 1998 superhawk

That's not that many miles actually for this motorcycle. Really, what you should be worried about, is how the bike was maintained by previous owners.
In case you were wondering, there are quite a few threads asking the same thing as you. Most bikes on here have 15,000 miles to 60,000 miles. A few are closing in on 100,000 miles with barely an issue. Again, maitenence plays a huge roll.
If you buy it, check to see what kind of CCT (Cam Chain Tensioner) it has. Stock CCT's are know to let go (the spring inside it breaks) and if that happens, your valves meet the pistons and bad things can happen.
Also look at the R/R (Regulator/Rectifier). The stock ones tend to cause issues. You need to upgrade it to a MOSFET type.
If you buy it, let us know and we'll help you out with your questions.

That's not high miles for a Superhawk.
A local guy has one with 120k miles( when I saw it a few months ago).
My 2001 had 50k miles when I sold it and it was perfect. Well maintained? if yes, then don't worry about miles unless its @ 200k miles lol

MCCT is great, it means the PO did their research and likely paid attention to the rest of the maintenance. Remember, we're judging the bike over a few words and no pictures at this point, so saying anything is really pointless, but that sounds like a great price.

Just so you know, all 1998 Superhawks were red in color. Do you know why it was changed to black?
Also, the wheels and sprocket cover are from a late model Superhawk or someone simply just changed the color.
The subframe is painted black (stock is silver), so you know that was removed at least once. Not that it's an issue. Just an observation.
Looks like a decent bike. Find out why the color change on several parts. Was it dumped? Owner simply wanted a different color, ect.?

It's all there, has nice exhaust, stainless brake lines, decent tires, flush mount front turn signals, fender is gone all ready 1500 is probably what you would get for it as a trade on a brand new bike so not a bad price IMO.:-)
