Well we know they're working on a new V-4. I'm hoping for 1000cc and 150rwhp and 80 ft/lb of torque. If that happens, I will sell my CBR and the VFR and buy it.

I've never ridden a GB500, and it's not looking like I ever will. They're getting hard to find, but I'd snag one in a heartbeat if one ever comes my way.
I'm surprised the bike didn't do better. I'd love to see one of the Big Four attempt one again. Ducati's come close, but it's way too serious and expensive.
It could never be my only bike though.

I had a GB500 for a while. Not a great bike to ride. It felt a bit cheap and wobbly. They are better to look at.

Not to mention they are really slow. No thanks.

As for bikes other than the VTR--there are lots of bikes these days that would fit the bill. Being the practical sort and wanting a bit more power than the Hawk provides, I think I would like to have a new CBR1000RR even though I don't like the looks of it.

My next bike will probably be an FJR1300.
Although I was so close to selling the hawk for an 08 Aprilia Tuono last year, so that would definitely be considered again.

I have a k1200s which is a really nice bike - to me perfect compromise of sporty and comfortable without being a big touring bike. If I fit the hayabusa (longer arms) comfortably I probably would have gotten one of those instead. I can do two-up riding on it all day, but it has excess power and actually is sporty and light enough that I can keep up with anything on sport rides. In fact when riding it I forget about the SH. I like having both though. I think its what a modern CBX would have turned into.
There are so many great bikes out there I'm glad I'm not in the market for a new one - too many to decide between and week to week it changes. Lots of times I think I want an enfield - I just like the look similar to the brown bomber 500

Instead of my Hawk? Normally I'd say the RC-51, but I guess that's a VTR too.

I would love to get hold of an RC-45, 190hp would certainly be nice.

I would also enjoy a 954RR.

Well, if I was FORCED to RIDE something(s) other than a VTR:

The Hawk shall remain!
Best bang for the buck, and becoming more rare by the season.
I also have an 87 GSXR 750 with a modded suspension that is a sweet ride with similar power to the Hawk, but in an inline way.
And, my original race bike, the GS500e. Also my Son's GS500e he is learning on.
I would like a dual sport type like that 650 BMW single cause I like to explore dirt roads and such. A bit rude on a sportbike, but we do it.

Almost sold the Hawk when I got my CRF150. My love for riding dirtbikes leads me to believe that if I were to have another street bike, it would most definitly be a supermotard. I'm thinking Husky!

As for the GB500, it's a fun bike to ride for nostalgic reasons, but it's no powerhouse. But if you find a nice one, I'd snag it

Man, what a heartbreak. -Kinda like reading a modern review on the Lambo Countach. The new Nortons are looking very sweet accept for the huge gap between the top of the rear wheel and the bottom of the seat. That's a deal-killer for me. Otherwise, that'd the be dream bike.

In no specific order:
- Aprilia RXV5.5
- Triumph Sprint ST
- Kawasaki Concours 14
- Bandit 1250
- MV Brutale 1078
- Triumph Street Triple R
- new Ducati Streetfighter
- BMW R1200RT
- Moto Morini 1200
- Aprilia Dorsoduro 750
- GSX-R750

yeah, that should do it

Aprilia Mille.: Compared to a Ducati, kind of like driving a Bently instead of a Rolls.

I see 20 Ducs anytime I take a weekend ride up the coast. Aprilias are kind of like VTRs, rare sightings.

I like the RC8, maybe a Monster S4, BMW R1150GS (or F850), '93 first-gen CBR900RR might be nice...or an '85 GSXR 750 possibly, but having the V-twin has spoiled me for Fours, I think. I'm not sure about the new Buells, it seems like a lot of bugs still need to be worked out of them.

How about a Desmosedici?

BMW K1200 GT
Yamaha V-Max

but I will not part with the Superhawk unless Honda builds a V-twin with the ergonomics of the VTR or VFR

RE: Other than VTR, what would own?

I know they won't build it but...the update to the RC51.

I could also see riding:
Duc 848
GSXR 750
Yamaha RZ350

The Duc because it's available, won't need a bunch of after market parts to look good and run/handle/stop great, and you can get parts for them.

The GSXR because it's almost perfect.

The RZ350 because every home should have one. You do have to dump money into it to make it look , ah, OK but they go like a bastard and are a blast to ride. Dropping one won't likely kill you or your bank account. You don't need 150+ HP to have fun on the back roads.

Triumph Sprint RS. Which I have, sporty enough to get some thrills, comfy enough to ride cross country and they have hard bags!
Also lusted after a Speed Triple, either the original from 95 or the new 1050....

Not in order:

GSXR 1000--trading in my VTR in a couple of weeks for one
Ducati 1098S-I think it'd be a blast, and always wanted a duc
GSXR-750-used to have one...love them
Honda Goldwing-I'd love to bring the wife along in comfort
FJR1300-Tour Europe with one
turbo busa-just for the thrill
old cafe racer-I'd even get the old leather helmets and goggles and cruise.
SuperMoto of somekind...never ridden one, but it sure looks like fun.
Vmax-first bike I rode, seemed like the most brutal bike I'd ever ridden back then-nostalgia I guess

There's a lot of beautiful stuff out there but nothing I really want. I like Ducatis, Aprilias, Triumphs and Buells but I'm put off by the limited dealership networks here in Ontario and the cost and availability of replacement parts. I want a bike I can keep on the road. I want to be able to do all the regular maintenance myself. The VTR is a huge amount of fun to ride, parts are available, I can do maintenance myself and you don't see one on every street corner. I don't think I'd get another street bike in addition to or to replace the VTR. I'd get a trials bike or maybe a Ural sidecar outfit.

Mmmmmh ... some very nice choices there

Personally, I got a bit pi$$ed off at Mr Honda for their complete lack of consideration for their customers and focussing all their R&D on the RR class, while completely abandoning the other great bikes like Superhawk, RC, VFR, Blackbird ... so once it was time for me to get something different, I went to the darkside called Suzuki and got myself a GSX1300R ... fell in love with it on the test ride. Easy to ride (for a bike that size and weight) and for some reason less likely to make me wanna hoon than a Gixxer Thou or R1.
Used to hate the look of them, but it just grew on me over time ... now I can't wait to get on for every next ride.
