Protection from thieves
So there has been a rise in crime about everywhere you look, just last night my friend's truck was broken into and the radio was stolen. So I started to think about my SH. So my question is what do ya'll use for security. I've been thinking about some disc locks and maybe an alarm.

I use a Honda U lock that's designed to fit in the tray under the seat.
(120/340) with product code 08M53KAZ800

I used to keep my old bike (POS Katana) on the street when I lived in Chicago and then Hoboken NJ.... needless to say I went through 7 ignitions over 4 years... once it was wheeled/dragged two blocks away where I found it while walking to work after calling it in stolen, and another time it was gone for 3 weeks before some cops caught a guy on it and unfortunatley returned the bike to me!!!
In the end the only things that seemed to stop the madness was a big-*** chain that I looped through both wheels and around an "unmovable object" (like a big light post or fence) and a "kill switch" under the seat that wouldn't allow the bike to start (I ran it off the kickstand kill). With these two things, the bike wouldn't start no matter what they did with the ignition, and it couldn't be wheeled away, or thrown in a truck easily without cutting the chain.
Honestly... in the end, if they really want it, they will get it... all you can do it make it difficult enough that they decide it isn't worth the effort.

Go to the range. Post your used targets on your garage door - back door - front door. Put electronics everywhere and deploy several dummies. Get a big dog and a AK and you'll be fine.

Besides shooting large guns off at all hours of the day and night, I just got ADT with a motion sensor in my garage. My roommate also has a fat lazy beagle who's snoring would surely scare off any would be thief.

A cover is a HUGE deterrent since they have to see something they like. They also have to tamper to even see what locks they are up against. A disc lock is good. Chain to a pole better. I had my bike saved once by a crappy small padlock I put out of sight of the front left disc. The bike was hotwired but wouldnt roll, they couldnt figure out why. That lock cost me $1.99 on a night I forgot my chain but saved the bike
