Re: The price is dropping!!!
Yes it would. One of my riding buddies that has a 2000 SH was at the dealership looking at them today. He drooled all over it but did'nt buy it. He wants it bad but can't get himself to turn loose of the money.
One of them on the showroom floor has a Sato exhaust on it and the salesman started it up. He said it sounded sweet and loud.

Dayum !!!
An RC51` for under $8k....WOW !
lets see.....
add an exhaust
add a Power commander
add a Sargent/or Corbin seat
That's about $9k or for a rockin RC51
Oh! Almost forgot about my old aching back.....
Do they make Helibars for it ???
Wonder what they charge for all those "hidden Fees" ?

Re: The price is dropping!!!
He did it!!
My riding buddy with the 2000 SH just called and said he talked to a salesman at Procycle, gave them a credit card number and they are holding one RC51 for him. He is going to pick it Saturday, I'm jealeous.

Re: The price is dropping!!!
I'll find out Saturday if Rick talked to the right person.

Re: The price is dropping!!!
My riding buddy Rick came home today with that new RC51. It is a sharp looking bike, the 04 Nicky Hayden edition. And he must have talked to the right guy, got it out the door for $7999.00 plus $65.00 doc fee.
OTD=$8064.00 what a deal.
If I did'nt have my SH that is damn near new I'd drive up and get one myself.

Re: The price is dropping!!!
O.K. her is the info you wanted. Rick dealt with a salesman named Chris Mayberry. Tell him you saw the RC51 on the website for 7999.00 and he will only charge you the $65.00 doc fee. You will have to go to the website, print the add and bring that with when you go, they will ask for it.
As of Saturday they had 2 left, one stock and 1 with a 2-1 carbon fiber Jardine full system and power commander for an extra $1300.00.
Take your pick, but you better hurry.

I am really looking forward to it. The only problem is I cant get there to pick it up until next weekend. The suspense is killing me!
I really want to keep the SH but I have the feeling that it will just end up collecting dust in the garage, and nobody wants to see that.

I'm not sure when or if the SH is going up for sale. I am doing my first track day in about a month and I want to use the SH for that. I know the RC is way better suited for the track but I just want to get the jitters out on a bike I am real comfortable on. Where it goes from there who knows. Maybe the SH becomes a permanent track bike.

Re: The price is dropping!!!
I know I'm pointing out the obvious here: you're going to street an RC (a real honest-to-god purpose built race bike) and use a streetbike on the track which is not it's forte`.
I know, you're looking at it from a money/newness point of view. I would too but it's so illogical from a performance standpoint.
This isn't going to help any: a local rider did a recent track day and watch during the first session a brand new latest/greatest ducati (998r ?, 999r ?, whatever) get catupulted into a violent endo at the end of a highspeed turn. $20k gone in less than 20 minutes

From a performance standpoint you are absolutely correct but the example you gave is the very reason to take the SH on my first track day. I would much rather lowside a naked 8 year old bike than a full fairing new one.
If i find I really like track days and can do them often the roles maybe reversed but for the occasional track day i would rather get the thrill of the RC every day.

Take it from someone who knows, YOU'LL LOVE TRACKDAYS!!!! I'm so addicted it's not even funny, I did my first track day in March. Since then I've gone back umm 6 more times and that's just because the track is 6 hours away otherwise it would've been more! I'm going again Jan. 22nd and 23rd to tear up some more tires. Oh yeah did I mention it's more expensive than CRACK. I've gone through 2 sets of tires already and the pair before these I ran till I was slipping. The worst part is, the tires I have on there now I have to replace for the track but they're like brand new street tires.
