|
That's not an upgrade.

Here were my upgrades:

Not really an upgrade... more of an enhancement! :) Still have the Hawk and Interceptor.
|
Nice looking bike, but did they kill you on insurance?
|
insurrance is the same.
|
now that's a good insurance company! I've got Geico for $14/month on my Hawk, but I figured an R1 would run it up a bit...
|
I pay 45$ a month for the R1 and that includes comp, collision and medical, basically a full coverage plan. But I am about to drop the medical since I just got medical insurrance thru my wife and my payment should be around 30$ a month.
|
we don't have Geico in Michigan.

according to my agent, cc's is the only thing that matters.. so a R1 = same as SH = same as 76 harley sportster.
|
azzkiker: Nice bike!! What year is it and what kind of undertail is that
Iazn: who's your insurance company? so they work with people who have a few "Youthful Indiscretions" on their driving record? |
Wtf are you talking about?!?!??!?! My Firestorm IS the upgrade!
Yeah, i'm a newbie. (shrug) :p |
cc's enter in to it but when I was shopping for a new ride back in '04/'05 some of the bikes I was looking at like the V-Max 1200cc was a lot cheaper than the SH, 919 and VFR I was considering in NY for me (35 yo ) with a good record... I'm sure it varies from state to state, bike model, rider age company, etc... all enter into the cost.

I know with State Farm in Oregon, it's more than CC's that matters. Muuuuuuch more. To insure an R1 with them here is going to cost an arm and a leg, because half the motorcycling population has one and thus there are more wrecks and insurance claims. I pay $40/year (yes, year) for my 'hawk with full coverage, mostly because there just aren't that many of them, so not many insurance claims. I think, in the end, it's more of an insurance company decision and how they want to look at a bike, whether based off of CC's, actual statistics, or a bunch of other things. Definetly something to shop around and ask lots of questions for. |

Bought a Suzuki, and tracked it out, keeping the Uberhawk for street use. :headbang:

Just curious if anyone has any experience with a TL1000R - I pulled the money out of the bank this weekend, but it just wan't as clean as the guy said it was. I wouldn't get rid of the SH, but what the hell, it might be fun to have both.
I use Progressive Ins and have no issues. I added a 2003 twincam softail to my SuperHawk policy and the annual premium went up by a mere $59.00 |

Here is my upgrade. Don't laugh until you tried it. I made a 800 miles round trip from Portland to Plush OR. on this thing. I miss the nice running V twin power but I also really like the 75 MPG in town this thing gets.

If I was willing to spend the money to purchase, insure and maintain two or three more late model bikes, one of them would be an I-4 SS literbike for sure. But I wouldn't trade my VTR for one.
There's no one bike I'd rather have than the VTR. The fact that I was able to buy mine new for barely half the price of a new R1, 10R etc. is just icing on the cake. |
