OEM versus after market manual CCT

I was wondering since Honda upgraded they CCT couple of times since early ones on VTR (There was a change in part number) should I bother going for manual tensioners or OEM.
Have anybody experienced failure of upgraded Honda tensioners.
I am about to do 5000k trip soon and would like to do this as preventive maintenance.
Thanks for any inputs.

There is rumor that they did, but there is no confirmation, nor have I seen any design changes with the CCTs. They may have changed the material properties of the springs inside so they won't break as easily but there's no way to tell even from taking it apart and looking at them.

The best option out there is APE manual cam chain tensioners. They're cheaper than stock replacements, require very little maintenance, and are no more difficult to install than OEM. See the Knowledge Base for more info.
