No problem, it is a long-winded signature, lol

I just picked up some Vesrah SRJL (the 17s) pads for my bike (awesome deal on eBay). While I like the RJLs that are on now, I miss the initial bite I had with the HRC hard bites. The SRJLs, from what I have read, should remedy that situation....

What about underseat exhaust? or perhaps a 2-into-1 exhaust?

well then, that only leaves the option of sending me the cash to catch up with you! :)

I just got my superbike bars, risers and some zx9 footpegs over the weekend. I'm converting mine to a sport-standard this week. Hopefully in such a way that migration back to full sport for track use is easy enough. :)

I thought about that. Not sure what I could get for my 900RR set-up, however (also, I just dropped over $300 getting Apex risers for my current front-end). Also, while not major issues, there is the matter of the actual fitment of the wheel (ie. spacers and rotor offset). I have had numerous plans and ideas over the years and inevitably it`s finding people to do the work that turns out to be main hurdle (am not a machinist and have no tools or facilities to do the work, and, when I get on the phone to make calls, the shops I speak to have no interest in doing one-off work, perferring to work on industrial jobs which are less hassle for them)......

cable clutch conversion (only because I want to see how it works) and I'll second the electric water pump idea.

And maybe get a seat cowl that fits.

Now that is a very deep cut, lol

The problem is not the cowl but how the seat sits..... guess I`ll have to get around to it some day...... like maybe December, lol

Get a custom fork brace made.. shouldn't be too pricey at any machine shop.

Gregw 07-11-2011 12:30 PM

If it were me, I'd buy some tools and move to a place with a garage where I could work on it myself. To me, that seems to be the big thing you're missing.

Mikstr, the only thing that bike needs is a brother...

I am NOT a cruiser guy but if I was ever in the market for one, the Diavel would be it. It (and the VMAX) are the only two bikes capable of cashing the cheque their so-called bad boy image writes. Still, I don't think I'll ever be in the market for a cruiser, just way too "poser-ish" for me......

Well IMHO you really only have one area left to address.
Yes it's the front end and no I don't suggest a USD front end.

The 900rr front end is part of your bikes character and sets it apart from the rest of us suspension swappers...... plus it's very reminiscent of the Moriwaki race bikes. ;)

So besides the fork brace and I'll check around this area, someone might have one lying around.

You need to get your fork tubes coated. The gold of a TiN coating would add both performance and some bling, unless you like the black look of DLC ;)

If you wanted to change the front end, well you only really have one choice.... Start keeping an eye out for a set of 900rr Ohlins Road & Track forks.

They come up from time to time and that would be the ultimate, though possible costly (though you did hunt down that exhaust......), mod left.

If I think up any more ways to spend your money, I'll let you know

scottiemann 07-13-2011 04:02 PM

hey hawk is it me or did I bring back fork coating from the dead? :p

well mik in my opinion your bike has it all but aparently according to everyone else your front end needs some work.

If it were me and I had a bike as complete as yours and had the cash I would go for a full aluminum subframe and definitely the fork coating..

both cosmetic and performance gains with those two ;)

mikstr 07-13-2011 04:05 PM

Much appreciated Mike. I had looked into a DLC coating of the fork tubes a while back (at a local place and they wanted an outrageous amount of oney to do it, seem to recall over a grand!!!!!). I would like the black DLC tubes though. If you can located a fork brace, that too would be great.

BTW, I appreciate your help in spending my money, lol That is a true friend :)

cheers

Oh! Yellow LED strobe lights!

mikstr 07-13-2011 06:47 PM

Now why didn't I think of that.... *doh!*

zmaniv 07-14-2011 10:04 AM

Find a wrecked varadaro and graft over the FI system.

mikstr 07-14-2011 10:20 AM

If I was having problems with my carbs it might be worth a try but everything is just fine (especially since the smallish throttle bodies on the Varadero could likely not flow enough air for the state of tune of my engine). If I did anything on the intake side it would be to fit Keihin FCR carbs but, again, none are needed.....

8541Hawk 07-14-2011 04:17 PM

Well about the only other thing I can think of would be one of Mario's CF fairings...... ;)
