New slip ons
So how loud are slip ons supposed to be? I just installed some TBR cans and they are almost ridiculously loud, I think they may be race cans since they have a 2" hole straight through. They sound awesome, there just to much sound.

I have WileyCO's with no baffles and I have to wear ear plugs because they are painfully loud. they are straight through, no baffle to mention what so ever.
I have heard D&D's, yoshimura's, Leo Vinces and would have to say the TBR and the WileyCo's are the loudest pipes I have heard on the Superhawk.
Just wear plug and enjoy the music!!!!

Yes, TBR exhaust are loud as f. but no one pulls into your lane because they do not know that you are there. I used to hate loud exhaust, until I owned one, always thought it was a look at me/notice me ego thing. Now I see the safety angle of it, loud pipes do save lives. I have had people complain who ride with me, but no one runs up on my rear riding in formation because they know when I am slowing down and off the throttle. My friend with his brand new Harley doesn't like riding with me because he can't hear his own bike when riding with me, but he has stock exhaust. I don't like not being able to hear other bikes around my blind spots when riding in formation, especially with our crappy mirrors, but I am planning on getting better mirrors.
I wear ear protection on trips, you should anyway to save hearing damage from the wind/air pressure turbulence. Ipod with gummy earphones work good too.

I just got Yoshimura Titanium slip-ons. They sound great, but not too loud with the street baffle installed. I'll pull the street baffles soon just to see how it sounds, but I don't intend to run it with them removed. I don't need that much attention in the canyons. CHPs like to hang out there sometimes.
In my research on different systems, I thought I read that TBR had silencing inserts of varying degrees. You might check that out.

Spladle, if there toooo loud, maybe a trade is in order . I have Jardine carbon high mounts that I wish were louder. Post up a pic.
And a sound clip if ya have one.

I have the wolf undertails, and they are very loud. Simple 2" hole through the muffler, quiet if I'm cruising and not hard on the throttle, but open her up and these things entertain the bike very well. I just repacked them, too.

Sorry George your RT-1's probably aren't as loud as you think, I did a little experiment this evening. I used the decibel meter on my phone to measure how loud my tbrs were on rt-1 high midpipes, then on their low mid pipes and finally my cut down (15" body) rt-1's on their high mids. the result were as follows: TBR high = 93 Db RT-1 high= 86 Db TBR low = 96-103 Db (it kept changing) I'm going to try and load the sound clips. While he tbr lows were the loudest they also had the deepest most mellow sound.

The Jardine RT-1's are actually among the most quiet aftermarket exhaust for the VTR... And in that sentance I use the word quiet with a certain amount of flexibility... All things being relative you know...

All things being relative is key here as I tried to keep all the variables the same (reading location, rpms...) but my phones decibel meter has never beentested against a standard so the measurements are truly relative.

mini thread jack -
we should start a dB reading thread for exhausts....
maybe set some parimeters, i.e. idle, 2500 rpm , 5k, etc.
i dont know maybe a pipe dream!!! what do you think... we could end this loudest exhaust debate here and now!
