These forums are great, as I know next to nothing about VTRs! I made a downpayment to a private party today on a 26k mile 00 VTR, so I am pretty excited, as its my first "sportbike". I have progressed through the Honda ranks with a 750 Nighthawk (my first "Hawk"), then an early Goldwing, and currently a few of the CX500s and 650s. But a great deal came up on a slightly-scabbed VTR, so I rode it today in 30F temps, and it was great. With a little TLC and some experience on my part, I think I will have a neat bike, something interesting to ride when the Wing or the CX is not appropriate. Something tells me that may be quite often!
One question- I have been using Givi top cases for a few years, and would like to transfer mine to my VTR. Are mounting brackets hard to find, and where would I find them? I see Givi lists a part # for them, but was wondering where to start looking. Any recc's on parts suppliers are appreciated too, as it seems the VTRs are far less common than CBRs and VFRs for accessories and such.
Thanks for any advice!

Welcome.
I have no idea about the mounts. I run lean when I'm on the SH. I will take a backpack and sometimes a tankbag.
As far as parts go, just do a site search. You should find what you need. I use ronayers for most things.

welcome JIM, too bad I didn't get to know you when I had my superhawk. I have an R1 now and I am in Grand Rapids, MI. I recommend you check www.wmriders.com. Great group of guys to ride with.

thanks!
Thanks, I contacted wmriders just for the heck of it... I have a group I ride with, but they are mostly H-Ds. On the other hand, I have to show up with the VTR once I get it... leave them in the dust.
VTR will be a new experience, real new, as I am into the "vintage std" type bikes so far, with a CB750, GL1000 (one of the first Wings) and some CX500s in my stable. A sportbike will be quite exciting, with a lot more hp and a lot less weight than my Wing. I rode it for the first time (in 30F temps) on the highway recently, and it was not as intimidating as I expected, but still will take some getting used to, being so much more responsive. Should make for an exciting Summer!

Welcome! How's the weather up there right now? I grew up in Michigan not to far away from you in the Muskegon area. Just this morning it was 27 degrees here in the sunshine state....WHAT THE HELL! haha Enjoy the hawk.
