new bike : cbr900rr

I was always thinking I wanted an RC51 to replace the VTR , but then I found a real nice 1998 cbr900rr, which I bought. After riding the Superhawk today I realized there is no way this bike is going, it's just to much fun to ride. Looks like I'll have 2 nice bikes to ride.

I paid a good buck for her, but it only has about 13,000 miles on it.

Beautiful bike! I rode a friends 929RR on the weekend and are they ever fun bikes. They go like hell. Very responsive with handling and brakes. I wouldn't mind one in my stable.

929 is the next generation, substantially stronger than the 98/99 edition. 929 also gets USD forks, EFI and massive 330 mm front rotors (as well as swingarm pivoting in the engine case like the VTR).

Nothing like throwing a little cold water on his new purchase eh?

That is one clean bike. Awesome! You must be wearing the biggest grin everywhere. That's darn near as nice looking as the RC45:

sorry, it wasn't meant that way at all. I had no intention of "dissing" the 900, I was only showing that the 929 is totally different from the earlier 900.

Congrats on the 900 double R!

One of my buds had an RC45 for quite a bit, I even got to ride it some, sweet bike, but I think it made less HP out of the box then the 900RR did, heh. The HRC power-up kit was a necessity on the 45.

Now the RC-30, that was a bike with out of the box greatness. I actually got to borrow another buds for an entire morning of riding. Absurd fun!

I liked it so much, I ended up getting a RC31 in 2000. That single sided swinger is hot.

Do you have any more pics to show cmcc?

I plan to upgrade the 900 with USD forks and 17'' wheel, could have got a 929 for the same money but I think the 900 has loads more character.

I agree that the 900RR has more "character" than the 929. It also has a much more street friendly power curve. Looks clean from here.

That's a mighty nice CB750. And it has a kick starter, like a "real" motorcycle.

Anyone remember when Harley riders used to say, "If you can't kick start it, it ain't a real motorcycle"?

One honda I used to want but never got to own,was one of those VFR1000R.
Only made in 85 and 86, I got to service and ride one we sold at the honda shop I worked at. I remember it feeling huge, but I was like 17 at the time.
I do know it was scary fast when I opened it up.
If I ever find one someday cheap I may grab it and restore.
Huge, heavy, and gawd aweful fast.

Oh it had a very pretty paint job too.

Those things (VFR1000Rs) were heavy beasts even in their time. Ultra heavy and slow by today's standards.
