My new hard panniers & mounting rack

Helloo all.
A while ago I looked into building aluminium panniers. Then work went busy, and I got no further on them.
However, more recently, I found cabin luggage sized plastic suitcase advertised. On inspection, I found them suitable, so I bought a set.
I used a ventura packrack to base my mounts off, and also have a pivoting mount for the topbox, allowing the box to be foward for solo riding, or back for carrying a pillion.
I have yet to make a lock for the topbox pivot arms, so while it can't come off, it does tend to wobble in place.
The panniers can be removed, and will have to be, to be fully loaded, as they hinge at the front, not the bottom.

Oh, and sorry about the horrible colour mismatch...they were on special, and green was the only color they had two of left

Good idea! Well done, I love seeing creative thinking come to life. Do you have picks of the brackets mounted without the bags?
I would like to follow your lead and fab something similar.

Fresh paint and a new windscreen and this will be the absolute bomb, sport-tourer of all time!
Great workmanship and innovation!

Color bond

I really like the rack & cases. Now you gotta go to summit racing and get some color bond brand "seat stylin" color spray. The stuff is amazing and can paint the panniers black or red or something. I even used it on a pair of raceboots like 5 years ago and they still look like they were always that color.

It is made for steering wheels and seats and dashboards and is indestructable color.

Oh yeah, now is your chance to wash the bike too.

I might build a couple of sets and put them on Trademe.
One set red and one set black. Just to see how well they do...
Just debating whether to put the topbox & fleximount as part of the deal, or just the panniers
