exhaust and steering damper are the only things I would do...maybe brake lines.
The way I see it, the super hawk is probably more capable than I or most on this site in stock trim. The only recent exception to this I have seen is the suzuki sv line. the front fork on the 650 is borderline dangerous. Unless you are racing the bike, there is really no need for spending money on the suspension. You would be amazed at how good a bike can feel once you learn how to properly adjust the existing suspension. |

Either you weigh 140 -150 lbs and only ride on very smooth roads or you're smokin' some good stuff as the suspension is under-sprung and over damped from the factory.

This was the only modification I regret. Everything else was worthwhile. 8 hours into a long day, after riding in snow, rain, goat trails. Too fast and too tired. Hit black sand on the inside of the outside tire lane. My friend Zach slid and recovered. I hit his sand and went down. Russ crashed right behind me. |
Yeah, you might regret those modifications.

Maybe it is just my riding style. I am 190lbs and 5'11". My gsxr 750 race bike was too stiff and i had to loosen the preload on the rear shock(which all but eliminated my headshake issues) and took both rebound and compression dampening out of the front. So far the hawk has been left alone, but it was purchased used and who knows, there could be racetech pregressive srpings in the front and I would never know. My sv dives HARD under any breaking and the Hawk does not. |
