Looking for input on a sport touring windscreen!

Im taking a trip to boston from clevland in September and am going to need to upgrade my stock windscreen to a sport touring. Any suggestions or advice is greatly apreciated! I have seen the zero gravity dubble bubble and the MRC i think its called but from what I can tell by the pictures (which isn't much) they dont look all that much taller than the stock. Or maybe they dont necessarily have to be? I'm 6'7" so I realize its not gonna do for me what it does for shorter riders but I think it will definitely help!

Thanks for any info!

I bought mine on this forum from a member. Not sure the brand but man does it help on long high speed trips. I got it for winter riding but leave it on year round now.

Have you tried catalogs like chapparral or competition accesories?

Yeah its good for food shopping and beach days too. Thats a 52 liter top case and 22L sides. I also have 46L sides but you cant lane split. These are the same width as my mirrors.

Smokin, where did you get the bags from? That would be super helpful for carrying items and giving the kids a place to sit more comfortably as well. The 46L would be fine for me as I can't lane split in NH or NZ.

Im a tall rider like you so I can relate. My SH came with a stock screen... Ran that until I had some run ins with quail in my area. I ended up being hit by two quails in two days.... First one hit my shoulder at about 80 or so... felt like I was hit by a waterballon. Next day one tagged my screen and cracked it. That one was like I was hit by a down filled pillow.... feathers everywhere....
I ended up getting a double bubble and it works ok but doesnt really get the wind off you unless your right on the tank and being tall, that position gets old quickly....
Im going back to a stocker when I find one. I personally like the look better than the double bubbles and flips style.

I have a MRA sport touring smoked windscreen on mine and I love it. I am 6' 2" and the coverage is far better than stock. I would take a pic but my fairing is off currently. You can check a pic out at thier website

Good Luck!

It is a Givi wingrack (option for 3 bags). Daily I use only the top case since it holds 2 full helmets. The case in the pic is a maxia (52L) but they have them in alot of sizes.

This is a monokey system, they also have a monolock system but they arent compatible.

You can get a monorack which is just the top case mount. I had that for a while before I got the wingrack for trips.

Everything is Givi. They make @ a zillion bag options. I custom built the rack to be really narrow for my NYC habitat since most of my riding is lane splitting.

You can see how I cut the tail plastic to be tight then plastic welded a piece onto it. Ugly but it was a really quick temp job before a trip 4 yrs ago.

Hey Jdavid, when I got my screen I actually wanted one of these things. It controls airflow in some psudo-scientific way.

Laminar Products for Honda Super Hawk 1000

For me I ride in winter so any cold air should be blocked but if you are a summer rider then it might work.

In real life what I initially did was buy a hunk of plexiglass, cut it into that shape, put it in an oven @ 130* for 10 mins then bent it right into that shape. (it hardens when cool)Worke great for a couple years and cost like $12. Looked good too.

Great info thanks guys! Smokin Joe I think what you have on yours is what I'm looking for, it seems taller than others I've seen! Any idea what brand that is?

I have a Givi on mine that came with the bike. It looks odd from anywhere but on the bike, but I've grown to love it. I think if I had a smaller windscreen, I'd really be a parachute. I'm only 5'11", but I have some very broad shoulders ~52" and I can still manage to tuck in behind this screen if need be.

This is a subject I am also interested in. I have the stock screen. It works fine. Air hits just under my helmet so no noise etc.

But wonder if for track days a bigger one would help with top end speed.

Joe's appears to be the same that I had on my Superhawks...a Zero Gravity Touring screen. I'm 6-2 and that shield is great on the bike. That Givi appears to be a bit larger and it would definitely do the job, too.

I would like to find another ZG Touring Screen if anyone has one they want to sell...let me know via PM. The Grayhawk is gone out west to do service for one of our finest who was in the service. I still have the Redhawk and it lost pressure in a newly installed rear tire and fell over in the garage breaking the windscreen. I have the OEM screen on it now and would like to find a replacement for the broken ZG.

I have this one too, it's by Zero Gravity. I'm 6'4" and it works pretty well, noticeably better than the D/B screen that I replaced with it (which was much better than stock). I had hoped it'd lower my helmet noise because my area of turbulence is right at my neck but it didn't do much for that.

I'd be interested in trying that laminar thing too.

I went with the Zero Gravity touring Wind Screen... It helped a lot in the 3/4 tuck and it allowed me to get under it when fully tucked. Glad I purchased it.

Wicky - that looks similar to the MRA but to my eye looks slightly different. If it is not MRA can you say what brand name it is?

I'm 6' and the double bubble I have on mine is just enough to get the wind to flow over my helmet and eliminate the wind from slapping me in the chest. And to me they look better than the ST screens

Thank you but I've got a DB screen now and I want more wind reduction.

I'm sure I'll go with an ST screen next, it's just a matter of which one. Right now leaning towards MRA or ZG. But I'd really like to know what Wicky's got on his bike.

I think this is a zero gravity. I wouldnt trade it for anything. Here it is compared to stock ht.

This is very similar on ebay. 2nd 23 441 05 Zero Gravity Windscreen Honda VTR 1000F 1997 2005 Sport Touring | eBay

The lessened fatigue is noticeable. Less helmet buffeting and less noise.

Keeping you dry in the rain is a plus too. Rode right thru some downpours with a mesh jacket on & didnt even worry about my gps since it barely got wet.

Thanks Joe I may well end up choosing the ZG, it's definitely the most bang for the buck and I believe a safe bet that will be way better than what I have now. However I occasionally suffer from a condition I call "terminal uniqueness" in that I always seem to have to have something different...

I hope Wicky responds to my question here, but I'll PM him if I don't see a response here soon.

I'm 6'4, and have a Double Bubble too, but the MRA is much for my height. Pic:

If anyone is interested I took a pic this spring of the ZGST over the stock screen
b-4 I mounted it. I picked the clear so the picture is not great in front
of plywood but you can clearly see the difference in height.
I also have a MRA ST and they equally work well offering more coverage
than stock IF that is what you are looking for. I am 6'2" but also use Apex bars so it
does place my head in a bit of buffeting because I am sitting more upright.
