Iron Butt Ride

Iron Butt Ride
Anyone here done an Iron Butt ride on their Superhawk? I've done two, but not on the hawk. I was just looking through the IBA site at the list of people and their bikes and noticed several entries for Superhawks.

A forum member did one on his Superhawk about 1 or 2 years ago, I believe. I remember him posting a thread detailing his route. I thought I knew who it was, but I looked up his thread history, and evidently it wasn't him.
Then there was the young kid back in Florida who did one on his recently purchased VTR not too long ago, within the last 6 months or so. His was more unintentional, since he was running an errand of some sort. He was posting from his phone during gas stops. I remember he froze his *** off. He may not have registered it though.
He rode north from Florida to somewhere over 1000 miles away, spent the night, then rode back. Some of us who were following his posts were just hoping he'd make it back alive.

Did one in 2009. I didnt register it though. I did the Lake michigan 1000. I ride with the stock seat, and love the bike with a load on it. A few things you can do:
Put padding on the passenger pegs for your shins.
Run a tank bag full to rest on.
Get a taller shield
Run ear plugs
Keep gas stops really really short (it just helps the pace)
Keep multiple shields (tinted and non) with wipes at hand.
Put a tail bag on that is shaped to close your wake (fuel mileage).
Throttle lock
Shift without the clutch as much as possible
run Music
Run full gear, no matter how hot. Keeping wind off is more important than staying cool.
Personally, I wear mesh shorts inside textile pants (they glide on each other and breathe well).
That is all that I can think of now.

Rode back from San Francisco to Seattle, 808 miles in 14.5 hours last weekend. Felt good at the end of the ride, could have gone on. Put on VFR bars otherwise stock. Better saddle would be nice. One problem I noticed at the end of the ride...
