iridium plugs are iffy

I have been having all sorts of issues with my bike, stuttering and bumping under acceleration. We all thought it was carb settings. Turns out that my 30 buck a piece plugs were the *****! My mechanic showed me on his neat little plus tester dohicky. One fired well enough to run, the other fired like it was drunk and trying to speak between vomit bouts. I was so pissed!
As it turns out, he put in another set of iridium plugs and these burn just fine... Now, there's a little issue about getting my valves serviced which he said was senseless, but what do ya know...needs to be done after all.
Then should be good as used -lol-
Turns out, what sells for more, making you think it's a GREAT piece or item simply isn't the way to go. From now on I will stick with basic parts; they always seem to last longer, run better and cause less of a headache in general.

8541Hawk will become famous soon enough
Good to hear you found the problem. The stock plugs have never failed me yet and they are all that I have run. They are expensive enough as it is....lol

So what were the plugs you were running?

You could have just gotten a bad one. Same thing happens from time to time with regular plugs to. But, Iridium plugs are a waste of money anyways. Just put what the manufacturer puts in there. The performance advantage, if any, is so small it's not worth the extra money for the fancy plugs.

Yea 9 sounds about right for America, but I'm a canuck living in Switzerland, where nothing comes cheap!
HAWK... I was using NGK's. I trust the brand, always have used them, but these just don't cut it.
Also, I have since raised the rear with 4.5mm spacing.
I also am in need of new tires. I cummute with the bike as well as ride for fun, was going to go back to the sportmax roadsmart... and other suggestions.

Iridium Denso IX27B works fine, maybe there was slight improvement against stock ngk, runs smoother, but that was just feeling.

3amta3... my bike had two shudder problems, bad plugs and cam chain needs to be adjusted. Changing out the plugs got rid of the acceleration issue, where it would bump and smack around, to the point where I wasn't even comfortable riding it anymore. Now the bumping occurs higher in the rpms; say once around 5000 and again every so often 7+.
But yes, it was there where you said, 2.5 - 3.5 rpm.
As for your question about normal plugs working; my mechanic actually put in another set of iridium, but issued from honda according to him !? Not certain as to the brand, I didn't ask and he didn't tell. I'll find out later in the month when he does my cam chains. I have no interest in unscrewing them to check; the bike is working and it shall stay the way it is. Safety before curiosity.
Maybe you should do the same, grab new plugs and check out your cam chains.
just a thought
