internet relay chat. It's been around since the dawn of the internet. You can have a large chat room, set up ops, passwords, etc. Cool for instant communication with large groups of homies.

Well... The reason might be that we are spread out over the world with many different timezones... It's then a lot easier to read&post instead of having to be present at the time not to miss anything... But that's my guess... I for one prefer the forum as I sleep when most of you are awake...
