How far have you gone on your bike

Re: How far have you gone on your bike
Well, fellas. Looks like I win . I ride from my place (Toowoomba, not that that would mean anything to you...) to Sydney and back a couple of times a year. It's 1000km one way and I do it only stopping for fuel. Normally go out as soon as I get there. No problems.
Gave myself a bit of a fright when I tallied my times last trip. I did the 996km journey down in 8 hours 56 riding time. I usually keep track just to see how the mileage is going, etc. Can't believe I didn't lose my licence that time...
Don't know about those gel pants... Unless you don't care how your *** looks  .

Re: How far have you gone on your bike
My longest day so far has been 572 miles.. from San Francisco to the West gate of Yosemite via Mines road (Livermore)
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/LickObservatory.htm
& Del Puerto Canyon rd to Patterson, then more backroads across the valley to Coulterville and up to Hardin Flat (just before Yosemite) then to Cherry Lake and beyond to Cottonwood Rd
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/CottonwoodRd.htm
-then back down to Coulterville; thru Modesto, to Patterson; back to Mines Rd. & home.
MUCH of this trip was done in near-zero traffic, max-twisty, full-focus boot-scraping mode.. thus no time to worry about sore butt.
2nd longest day:
about 450 miles
2 new-to-me roads
From San Francicso, up Hwy 1 north to Westport, then Branscomb http://pashnit.com/roads/cal/BrancombsRd.htm
to Laytonville, then
North on 101 to Leggett, down 24 miles of freshly paved twisties to the coast & Hwy 1 http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway1toLeggit.htm
South to Mendocino & Orr Springs Road, where I turned East http://www.pashnit.com/maps/Highway1-north.htm
WOW. You must ride Orr Springs Rd., if you haven't.
It has everything, including Montgomery Redwoods forest preserve with the world's tallest tree http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2001/OlgaVapnyar.shtml
and a hot springs.
http://www.andersonic.net/orr/ (I'm gonna have to check this out!)
Orr Springs Road has great pavement
-and also some very bad pavement.
It has fast sections and also lots of 1st gear hairpins.
It is a very challenging road to ride fast; about 80 miles of it.
Ride it in full sun.. you'll want to be able to see the pavement in the bad sections, so you can choose a cornering line that intersects the smaller potholes :^) -also, prob'ly better to ride it East to West.
after arriving in Ukiah, it was smooth sailin' down 101 & home; 12hrs start to finish.

Re: How far have you gone on your bike
WOW, that sounded impressive until I did the conversion: 625 miles. Funny, that's exactly the longest day I've done on mine but I've done a couple of longer ones on VFR's (approx 750). It doesn't sound like much more but when you get up to those numbers, those miles (km's) start getting longer and longer and longer.....
Going faster doesn't help as your fuel mileage plummets and then you're stopping more.

Re: How far have you gone on your bike
I came up with this:
https://www.superhawkforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=477
AFAIK, no one's tried it yet but me so let me know if you do and how you like it.[/quote]
Here's what the VFR owners have to say about this:
http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/i...15154&hl=buell
One inch lower. May make all the difference for some.
