Hello from Greece
Hi to all
I am a fanatic biker and i want to make a question about changing my bike(again)
I had several bikes in the past, the last 3 were:
-Kawasaki Z750s '05
-kawasaki Z1000 '07
-Kawasaki Versys '09
I am totally happy especialy with versys(i like to ride sporty), but i want to return to a faster bike
I am thinking to sell my versys about 4500€ and to buy a used vtr1000f >2001 for about 2500€
With the remain money i can buy new tyres, make a big service etc etc
Vtr1000f was always one of the bikes that i liked more, but never had the change to own one
The question is about the mileage
Benzin costs a lot round here, about 1.75€/l
Having a bike that consumes a lot, is a bit risky
Ok, i am not aspecting to have the mileage of versys, but is about the same with a 'today' 1000 bike?

Well first the vtr1000F is not the superhawk, that is the rc51. The superhawk is vtr1000, but if you find the 1000f for that cheap buy it!
As for mileage, I average between 35 and 40 miles per gallon. I get about 130 miles per tank of fuel, or 3.3 gallons.

Fuel
Ok, here's the dealio. You know speed costs and keeping the throttles pinned on a liter bike is expensive and you can expect to use 25 mpg. I'd ditch the Versys for a red Superhawk anyday. Just the sound alone would justify it but you may tire of all the girls trying to hop on behind you. I get so annoyed with them-----------maybe I should get a Versys ?

Honda_VTR1000F is in fact a superhawk or firestorm. Jeez...
RC51
RC is the RVT1000R
or VTR1000SP1 or SP2
Mileage is about mid 30's average. Great bike but if you're looking for a lot of MPG, maybe not the best choice. Very similar to today's 1000's though. It's very dependant on how far you twist the wrist!

yes I don't care much for mileage,as I want I bike to give me pleasure when riding
as for the fact of naming, yes, vtr1000f is actually a superhawk/firestorm
the only thigh I am afraid about used bikes, especialy carb bikes,is the possibility of bad jetting(if modified) by the ex owner
