A fond farewell

Gentlemen (ladies too),

I don't think I've been to the site since 06' or 07' and I'm sure no one remembers me, but oh well. I just wanted to say that sadly next Monday I will be trading in my 2003 Superhawk, which i bought back in 05', for a 2007 Aprilia Tuono R. Brand new, $9999. the black one. Not a bad deal. Anyways, I wanted to say thank you to this site and all it's members for helping me to begin the motorcycling experience and with all the questions i had about my chicken. My first bike was my superhawk and she was an excellent first bike and loads of fun. Unfortunately as i get older (I'm actually only 38) the ride position is getting to be too uncomfortable and I will try my hand with a streetfighter. I will definitely miss it. I never had a negative thing to say about it (except the ride position, which is actually about as comfortable as it gets for these kinds of bikes) nor will i in the future and will highly recommend the VTR to anyone. I will also direct them to this site. Don't mean to sound like a homo, but my chicken deserved this much. lol. You guys have a very unique machine that folks don't get to see very often, but has so much more personality than those dime a dozen inline fours.

Again.....thanks all and good luck,
David in Tacoma, WA

Cheers, David!

You probably won't miss her too badly with a new Tuono R in the garage!! Good choice.

Enjoy it. Please post up some photos if you get a chance.

David,

I've got a couple of years on you and I've done some seat time on a friends '07 ape. To me the rearset pegs, which are unchanged from the mille it's based on, are more uncomfortable than the VTR. Yes, the tuono's superbike bar is way better on the upper body than the VTR's clip ons but many of us had added handlebars quite easily; you shouldn't have stayed away for so long! (grin).

The owner, who's older than me, is selling it as he knees can't take more than 30 minutes on it. Don't feel sorry for him, he replaced it with a duc hypermotard 1100S (true dirt bike riding position with pegs straight down).

Good luck with the new ride. It's awesome, gorgeous, and makes all the right noises!

Thanks for saying so long. The Aprilia is a beautiful bike. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
