how are the sportmax radial d207's? anyone have any good opinion or experience? i got a set of them with my bike when i bought it last year, and i just dont know much about them. i think they might be old. i took a couple pictures to see if one of you guys knew which one was the date stamp.
from what i know, it seems they're 2001's, but i thought i would make sure. its come time to change the tires on my bike, are these worth using? the tread is like new. thanks everyone.

Yeah, those are old and will probably not have much feel or traction compared to when they were new or to anything fresh/modern.
Personally, I'd throw the rear on if I knew I was going to do a lot of straight up commuting or highway droning and keep the front as an emergency backup spare.

my kawasaki ex 500 was like that, i had to run it up to about 5grand in 1st and dump it
my SH is awesome, first gear throttle up and click into 2nd on the way up and ride it out
or clutch it up in 2nd
either way is still a good ticket if caught HAHA

thats definitely one of the ways to pull a wheelie. you can just go full throttle in first until you hit around 7k rpm's or so and the front end just lifts up. or you can get up to around 5k in 2nd and dump the clutch at around 8k and it pops it right up, you better be ready for it though or it will kick your ***.

ya, all of the insurance companies around here wanted 3000 a year for damn insurance. its insane. they wanted 1500 just for liability. which is more than i pay for my 94 camaro. its ridiculous. but fortunately, i live in washington, and we are not required by law to have motorcycle insurance. so i just have to make sure im careful. haha

I think that's probably true. I'm not interested in wheelies and only do them by accident, but there is no way I can use full throttle in 1st without lifting the front wheel.

Soneone may have already said this, but that tire was made in the 47th week of 2001. Six & a half years old, so not too fresh. Somewhat depends on how they've been stored & how much sun exposure they've had.
I'd look for surface "checking" on the sides and tread of the tire.
Plus D207 are somewhat old tech.

Just took a closer look at the pics. Just looking at them they look "dry" & brittle. Tires degrade chemically over a fairly short time span. Caution is the word.
BTW, check out these guys tire prices. www.motoxoutlet.com
Saw them in SportRider mag. Prices look really good. Never bought from them though.
