Crash...time for a naked conversion
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Southern California. I decided to let the Super Chicken out of her prison and treat her to a trip from Orange County to "The Snake" on Mulholland Drive. I was feeling great and she was making all the right moves. After a few sprinted trips up and down the hill I decided to take it easy on the way down to get a bite to eat at The Rockstore. Half way down the hill I entered a left hand sweeper at a minor lean angle then all of a sudden I was on the ground. While I don't classify myself as an expert rider, I've been on bikes for over 30 years so I know I wasn't braking in the corner. The only thing I can chalk it up to is that I must have hit some lose gravel in the road, as is the standard excuse when you want to blame something other than operator error :) Nevertheless she was down and so was I. The frame sliders did their job and I am thankful for having them but the left side of the bike is still in need of replacement plastics (along with a windscreen and some other bits). She was able to be ridden home albeit it was an extremely painful ride since, aside from a bruised ego, I also broke a few ribs on my left side. As soon as I can breathe without pain Im going to explore some naked options for the bike.
I'm a big fan of the latest Ducati Monster look and would like to figure out how to duplicate the headlight/guage cluster. I've done some searching and have seen a lot of different headlight options but none that have that compact (low profile) look. Has anyone here seen or heard of someone fitting a Ducati style headlight to their Superhawk? If so, I'd love to see it. |
Probably my favorite VTR:

My first VTR was from a salvage yard, I just put on some old round headlight with turn signlals, radiator from CBRF4; skipped the guages just used my GPS.

I like how the V Rod headlamps go with the lines of the tank... this example has no practical gauges or mirrors, but that can be sorted out.

Here is another look that I kinda favor, of one of our members, with a GSXR1000 tail and head light not sure from where, but looks great
