chain gaurd
Or............
You could use this:

Lowe's or Ace Hardware carry it.
Best chain (as well as other stuff) lube I've used in 40+ years of riding.
Virtually no fling, and it doesn't collect road mung betwixt cleaning/relube sessions.

I was in the same situation. I was frustrated with not having one and didn't want to deal with ebay so I just purchased it off bike bandit. You can probably get it for 10$ on ebay though. I'm embarrassed to mention how much I payed for it through Bike Bandit.
You mite check with the group of ELDERS of Knowledge on this site. Yet i would believe it would work just fine.. The seller is SouthSideRich. I have delt with him before(bought a set of wheels and tire from him) The price he has on it is $5.00 buy-it-now. He is in CA. I have his phone nu. if you want to contact him.. Just looked at his sell items -he has a few VTR1000f parts available..
I have one. I don't want it. It has just been laying around for the last few years. Not perfect, but good condition. How does $10 plus whatever it costs to ship it sound? PM me if you'd like it.
My chain guard recently fell off on my way to work, and got stuck in the chain and started smoking. I bet I looked pretty funny driving around like that. I didn't notice until I stopped at the gate and smoke billowed around me and the security guy.
But I'm glad it fell off. I switched to Motul Chain lube a few months ago, and it doesn't fling at all and stays very clean. I was about to buy a rear hugger to replace my lost chain guard, but decided I liked the ease of cleaning and lubing my chain with it more exposed. And I saved some money. And it looks better without it in my opinion.

I have one of these on mine, it looks good and has been on there for years.
