Carbon fiber heel guards.

I found a guy that makes a lot of pieces for our bikes using carbon fiber. I asked if he had a set of heel guard covers and he said he did not. However he did say that if I can get him a set to make the template he would give me and the owner of the rear sets a set of the covers for free, So if anyone is interested let me know. You will get the rearsets back once he makes his template.

Hopefully they are functional. The high mount pipes make it impossible to ride with toes on the pegs without melting boots... Functional heel guards would be nice, at least until we get rearsets going!

If he makes a lot of parts for our bikes, what's his name, surely someone here knows of him.

Hi Guys. Just dropping in to let everyone know that this offer is legit. I'm looking to borrow a set of rearsets to be able to make carbon fiber heel guard covers for the 98-05 VTR1000F. To answer some questions yes it is just for cosmetic purposes since the heel guard and the rearsets are one piece. I would need to have the rearsets shipped to me, I'll make the template and test cuts for the covers to fit perfectly, then I'll return them and include a free set of carbon covers for helping me out.

I am also looking for a triple clamp and gauge cluster for the 01-05 VTR1000F.

I already make the gauge, triple tree, gas cap, and tank pad covers for the 98-00 VTR1000F and now need to get the designs for the 01-05.

If anyone can help me out and let me borrow some parts to use I'd really appreciate it and you'll get a free cover out of it.

Thanks,
SKUR

Are they really covers or is he going to make an actual cf guard? A cover would be like putting a sticker on it for looks.

I will make a cover that will stick on the stock metal heel guard. The rear set and the heel guard are one piece unlike other models where the heel guard is attached by two mounting screws. In that case the stock heel guard can be removed and replaced by a light weight carbon fiber heel guard.

The 01-05 VTR1000F (from the pictures that I have seen) have heel guards and rear sets that are one solid metal piece. The heel guard area can't be removed. If this is incorrct please let me know.

The only way that it would save weight by adding a carbon guard is to cut off the stock metal guard. I don't think that too many people would want to hack off parts of their bike to save a few grams of weight.

It is kinda like chrome on a harley, makes it faster. But if i were not riding mine daily I might be interested in sending parts to make templates.

The advantage is to provide a part that people who are interested in the look of carbon fiber to be able to add an accent to the heel guard area. You may personally not like it or see an advantage to it but there are many who do. Every individual has their own personal taste.

If everyone only purchased carbon fiber for a weight saving advantage I would be out of a job since gauge, triple tree, and gas caps do not have any weight saving properties.

As for an answer to the heel melting on hi-rise exhaust, here's what I did.

I have the rearsets being shipped to me. Now I'm just looking for the triple clamp and gauge cluster for the 01-05 VTR1000F.

Let me know if anyone has them that I can borrow. Turn around time will be about 2 weeks including shipping time and there's a free carbon cover included too. Thanks.

I've done business with SKUR in the past and have his dress up kit for the gauge area and top triple for a '98 hawk. The pieces are amazingly precise and fit well. The orientation of the carbon fiber pattern lines up precisely from piece to piece so that the end result is uniform.

He's a good guy (formerly from Hawaii), and makes a good product at a fair price.

What did you use to make those? They look functional, which is what I and presumably others here could use. Hard to tell from the pic.

Any links? I'm interested in the dress up kit but could wait till the heel guards are done and get the whole set. That's if you'll ship them to Japan of course.

I only have the gauge covers in stock for the 98-00. I'm out of triple tree covers right now. I received a picture from a buyer that looks like he had to cut the cover to mount it. I'm waiting to receive another picture from mrmhrm9598 who said it fits good. I want to find out if the first rider had different clip ons that interfered with the cover rather than a stock set up which my covers are designed for.

Once I figure it out another run will be made.

Thanks Nekkid. You're the guy that lives in Manoa right? I appreciate the good word.

The forum member that was going to send me the rearsets is MIA, not responding to Pm's and hasn't logged on for a while. If anyone else has a set that would let me borrow them to make carbon covers for please let me know. I'm also looking for the front brake reservoir top to make a cover for that as well.

Let me know. Thanks.
