Best Year?
i like my 03'. it seems like it found me. and then it waited on ad a few weeks. havent seen anything like it in my small town. dont know how many ponys she pushing and dont dare push it on the street. need to find a trackday
dyno runs are a lot like drag strip runs. it's only fair to compare them to other runs on the same machine/track. preferably on the same day. the best way to use the info gained is to track you performance gains.
To respond to the initial post, something I just learned today (from this site) is that '02 or '03 models and newer have a slightly different ignition curve. It alleviates the need for (gain from) the Factory Pro +4 ignition advancer.
To continue the poll, I've both a '98, soon to be the '03 candy blue and a yellow '99. I've tried looking up final production numbers before but haven't come up with anything. Anybody found this info?
'98 red! And yes I noticed (and also wondered why) so many like model Honda's get slower and less powerful with each year...I've seen tests of superhawk's, f4/f4i's, interceptors...and every later test of an unchanged bike shows a slower less powerful bike.
Elevation KILLS power- I'm at 7,200 feet so I feel your pain. Obviously jetting, tire choice(weight), chain/ sprocket condition and lubrication, oil viscosity, etc all have a part in the final numbers. What did your bike dyno at before the jet kit, pipes, and filter? Same dyno on the same day?
