Baffelectomy vs aftermarket sound?
IS there a major sound differnece between removing the baffles from the stock cans and an aftermarket set of cans?

I've heard both and definately prefer aftermarket. Anything dual with atleast 2" outlets sound great.

Here's my list, in 'sound preference' order:
Leo Vinci V&H 'siamesed' tips Enhanced bafflectomy (rear baffle ground out to edge of pipe, holes drilled in 2nd baffle) 2 Bros/ normal bafflectomy Jardine I haven't heard Satos, ARTs or D&D's on a hawk, but have heard the D&D's on a TL, and they do sound sweet on a twin vs an I-4. I'd love a set of the V&H or Leos, (does Termigoni make SH pipes???), but cost and the aggravation from the wife aren't worth it. |

If you do the full bafflectomy, they can be as loud or louder than aftermarket. A partial bafflectomy (drill holes in inner ring) isn't as loud at idle yet still breathes well when given throttle but not to the point of the full bafflectomy.
I put ducati termignoni CF pipes on a VFR and they ROCKED! Sounded like two VTR's running sided by side but with the exhaust beat timing just a tad off. Suh-weet! |
oh yeah riding in v-twin sportbike groups ftw

Yea, I've been wondering the same. Was hoping to find someone in Central Florida who's done the bafflectomy so I could hear it first hand, but no luck yet. Anyone????
