aprilla sl1000?

hey guys, im thinking about picking up an aprilla sl1000 for a track toy, i have a bike and a ton of parts im thinking about trading in on this bike, its been for sale on this site for almost two years and i think i can get a deal on it. its been down on the rt side but it looks like VERY softly.

anyone ride aprilla??

all the reviews look great and i like the looks alot, many of the reviews compared our bike to the SL and it seems they did well, and power and torque look a bit more.

any insight would be great!
Thanks

the only thing I could think of as a drawback would be availability of cheap parts for the eventual get-off on the track. Are used parts available much?

well i checked ebay and there is a good bit of parts available, and there is a great aprilla forum i just checked out. considering i could probably get it for under 1000 i might just pick it up and ride it as is and use it as my track bike with no worries as to cosmetics.

There were some good sites for replacement fairings for pretty cheap that were linked on the aprilla forum as well.

Well, that's what counts. otherwise, I'd think it would be a fine ride.

I thought teh SL was more "sport-touring" whereas the RSV was more track-oriented....

thats what they tried marketing it as, but its like our Hawk kind of an odd duck, and apparently does very well in both aspects.

My comment wasn't meant to be a knock btw, I have always loved the SL (seems like a higher-tech VTR to be honest)

Buy one and get a 1060 kit for it.... muahahahahahahah! They go like stink!

AF-1 Racing (host of the Aprilia forum) is your friend if you own and ride an Ape. My '07 Tuono has been bulletproof and trouble free. They build some very high quality bikes that function very well.

hah i know, i always thought the same until i read some reviews, and everything was glowing from what i saw, the same with the hawk (other than range) prior to buying.

I wonder what that would cost me...that would be a hell of a ride!

and the more i look at the SL the more i like the styling and look fingers crossed i can ride it even for a short bit when i check it out
