Question anyone remove fake carbon fiber?

I just bought a set of levers off flebay, shape adjuster and price I was looking for. But they only had one set, and in fake carbon fiber. I'am guessing I should be able to boil or use some type of solvent to remove it. Anyone tried?.. successfully...

What finish are your trying to achieve? I'd say sandblast them and then have them powder coated. A very light sandblasting like likely take it all off and give you a nice smooth finish to work with. Boiling might work too. Try that and then even use some goo gone to get rid of the residue.
