Anther one bites the dust

Hello fellow forum members. Speaking of me, not the Hawk.
Due to past injuries, & age, just can't really enjoy riding much any more, so thinking about selling the bike. I understand protocol, you're supposed to post the cost, but really haven't thought that hard about it yet. like letting go of an old friend. Thought I'd give you guys 1st dibs if interested.

Facts about the bike as follows:
2001 bought new off showroom floor in Feb. 2002. Current mileage @ 24,595. I have been the sole owner, & the bike has always been garage kept.
Mods to date:
Superbike bar
Moffett R/R
Puig double bubble screen
Corbin leather seat
Pirates adjustable front pegs
Shaved rear pegs
Vortex rear sprocket +1
Speedo healer
Truckin's MCCT's
PARE removal/block off plates
Blue Flame EVO slip ons
Continental Attack 2 tires w/ lots of tread left
Undertail/rear tire hugger
Blue Samco silicone coolant hoses
Pazzo short levers
Blue Spiegel clutch/brake lines
Factory Pro jet kit
Real carbon fiber racing mirrors with self made extenders

Other self made mods too numerous to list here see pics
Bike is a strong runner with no hiccups from idle to redline
Most likely will start asking $3300, & yes I know this is above blue book value, so maybe I don't want to sell it "that bad"
Will also be letting go as a package with the bike the following items:
Stock seat & pipes like new condition. pipes have had baffletectomy.
Stock screen + second touring style.
Nelson Riggs tank & soft saddle bags.
And yes I do have a clear title to the bike. Well tried adding pics, but maybe I wrote too much already? Will post pics separate. Oh by the way, the bike is in San Antonio, Texas.

sorry to read this.... FWIW, if it's the riding position that is doing you in, it can be fixed and made more upright for relatively little money.......

Well, that's the main reason i made the superbike bar mod a few yrs back, which helped out quite a bit. But while stationed in Germany I had a Yamaha FJ1200 & went down hard, broke my right hip, couple of lower vertebre, left arm in , two places. Now age (61) has set in & now only after an hour or so, legs go numb. Not only an issue with the riding the bike, hell can't even sit in a chair more than 30 min., without having to get up & walk around.

Here's a few pics for anyone interested. Forgot that also have front & rear stands that will go with the bike.

Looks nice and well detailed!

Did the Samco hoses do anything functionally, or just look nice?

Well, hard to say, as I also converted to using Maxima Coolanol at the same time. Mainly switched out the hoses due to the original hoses being 10 yrs old, & didn't want to take the chance of blowing one on a ride. The bike does run about 5 to 10 degrees cooler, which is a plus here in south Texas where temps can run well over 100 degrees daily. Bike temps normally run around 190 to 210 degrees on a 100+ temp day, even in heavy traffic. In my profession as a generator service tech., we recommend using silicone hoses as replacement on gens we service, any where from 20 kw to 2 Meg units. Silicone will withstand much more internal pressure & heat than plain rubber.

Sweeet bike man, sorry to hear about your accident and pain and stuff... I don't think you'll have too much trouble getting a fair price for it. Looks really well maintained and dialed in with some good mods to make it bulletproof.

Hell just keep it and go on shorter rides more often

What a shame,

I know that one day my time will come too!

At 58 and having had a serious accident when I was 24'I feel lucky to be able to still ride.

When my time comes I will hand my Storm down to my son in law.

We used to ride dirt all the time and I have taught him as much as I can about bikes.

Luckily the way I feel that should be a while away yet.

Good luck, hope you get a fair price!

Hate seeing this post David! We all will be faced with this decision some day. Hopefully it will be made when the time is right and not much later.
I think you should have no problem getting $33 for such a well taken care of machine. The right buyer will see the care you've put into this Hawk all these years. Be patient if ya can and find the right home for your beloved VTR.
Good luck! And we hope you stick around here even after the sale.

Hey there, no have not posted anywhere else yet. Just thought I'd put it out here first, to fellow Hawk lovers. Hell, not even totally sure I'm going to let it go yet, maybe I'm just a tease. LOL! Nice day yesterday, mid to high 70's, had to go for a ride. Came back with a big smile on my face.

Im looking at new bikes now,, but will keep the SH.. Its a toy, it's paid for, it cost almost nothing for full insurance and still brings a smile to my face when I ride it.
Unless the day comes I can not ride at all, or am desperate for cash...I'll be keeping the SH.. Consider the same for yours.

Let it get a bit warmer...lets meet up for a ride....or lunch....or pie....or I can hand off a freshly lightened flywheel

Mr Marquez,

I hope that the bribery gets Moonster to hang onto his VTR!

I can't imagine life without mine.
