Alarm?

So I'd like to get an alarm for my Superhawk being I don't have a garage. Anyone have any experience with any motorcycle alarms. I'd like to get one that's waterproof being I ride rain or shine. Don't care about a shock sensor but maybe a tilt sensor and/or one that goes off when the side stand is put up. Any suggestions?

Well I don't want to spend a bunch of extra money on features I don't need. I saw some on Ebay with remote start etc. I think that's kind of dumb on a bike. I just want something basic that will make a ton of noise when the bike is moved or the side stand is lifted.

My opinion, best features are tilt detection and kill switch, you can adjust sensitivity to know if someone is messing with it and kill switch for bike jacking or if they hot wire. Unfortunately even with those it only takes 2 strong guys a couple seconds to take it, I would suggest lojack or something similar but lead blanket cancels those out. Buy a big "gorilla" or similar hexagonal type chain and either bolt it down or wrap it around a pole or thick tree and take out all slack. None of these will keep the bike from being stolen from someone who really wants to take it, they are basically just there to make them say that one will be more difficult so i will take someone else's, sorry to say.

Oh yeah I agree. My bike does sit right outside my window so if an alarm sounds it'll both wake me up/alert me, and hopefully scare the person off. If it doesn't scare them off hopefully I'll at the very least get a good look at their rig to get a plate number or be able to run out there with a shotg...er... baseball bat and deal with them until the police arive. I did think about wrapping a chain or cable around it and to my truck or Explorer as an added measure.

The big chains are the best because they know it WILL slow them down once your bike is in their van alarms don't do much, personally if I didn't have my garage I would use both.

For some reason, I just envisioned you hopping in said vehicle, forgetting the bike was chained to it and dragging it down the street. A stout pole might serve you better in that regard.

LOL! Yeah other than I usually park in front of the Explorer being I typically ride more than I drive. Unfortunately there are no poles or trees or anything close to my parking spot to chain it too. I think the condo association might get a little peeved if I put one in! LOL!

BTW, you can use a motorcycle cover, it usually makes it less attractive for the casual walk by interest, unfortunately not much for someone that really wants your bike, but at list it keeps away kids and teenage vandals.
There was a side effect though, the local dogs became very territorial

Awesome! I'll have to check it out. If I get my bike back on the road this weekend I want to stop my KFG in Kent so I could run down to their shop in Auburn at the same time!

anyone know of any systems out there that have a paging mechanism that pages you when the alarm goes off? something linked to the GSM network or something that can get in touch with your cell phone and text you?

I know Scorpio makes one that has a pager that comes with it, not sure about one to your cell though.

rlink has gps paging to your cell as well as it will record where the bike has been, how fast it was going etc... so you can also record your weekend trips and group rides.

I would love to get it but the price tag would make my wife beat me

I asked my buddy what he uses for security... "I got a wheel lock, and I got a noise maker"

I have the Scorpio SR-i900 alarm on my 'Busa's and my Ducati. 2 way system including a perimeter alarm. Good system.
