I know what you mean though. I cant see the numbers at speed and just go on position. The first larger white blur is 100kmh.
I'm 47
You must have a different speedo to me. If my needle was at 3 o'clock, I would either be doing 60kmh backwards or approx 430kmh forwards lol

Resist the urge to buy bathrobes, slippers and window sill mounted bird feeders from mail order catalogs!
My 78 year old grandfather did...
My fathers comment on the whole thing... "And thats the bloody lunatic that has been telling ME to take it easy the past 40 years...!"
And yes... My grandfather still covers some 1500-2000 miles a year on a Vincent Black Shadow... You try telling him it's a museum piece and he should treat it nice... He'll likely respond by giving you the finger and doing a burnout... I'm pretty sure his riding style hasn't changed much the last 50 years or so... Perhaps a tad slower, but not so much that you'd notice...
Now you understand why I had a hard time rebelling as a teenager... I'm surrounded by people twice my age that refuses to grow up...
I'm not sure If I should recommend to you to let him try it or not...

He started of nicely... And after being gone some twenty minutes he passed by the house... doing a burnout followed by a wheelie...

Well, I could go on forever...
Around here it seems the riders don't get slower with age... They just get less tickets...
A couple of weeks back I was riding with a group, I was by far the youngest... We got pulled over by a bike cop for doing way above the legal limit and I was the first one of the bike and removing my helmet...
The officer looked at me, with some grey sprinkles in my hair and obviously assumed I was one of the seniors in the group and started this whole spiel about me being old enough to know better... I just pointed over my shoulder and responded "I should be old enough?! You tell that to them, I was just trying to keep up..."
You should have seen the face of him, when he realized the "hooligans" was 6 old coots with steel gray beards and little or no hair... He just shook his head, and said "take it down a notch or two" walked back to his bike and left... No ticket, no running plates, nothing... Just left...

sounds like my kind of people. I belong in Europe or Canada, but I can't get out of here. I can't tolerate the driving mentality in this country and with 2 million miles in a truck and thousands of miles driving cars/bikes, i've seen more than my share of ******** on the roads. If I see someone coming up behind me when I'm driving anything, I'm going to do my best to facilitate his/her's passing. Most people here aren't even aware of what's coming behind them. When they do discover your coming or behind them, most people here try to block you, intentionally slow, or even try to run you off the road or do other stupid **** to foil your attempts to pass. Sick F*ckers!
About to turn 36, rode a VTR in '98 and has been the only bike I have ever truly wanted to own. Had to wait 11 years but finally got it. This is my 8th bike and I can't imagine ever owning anything different. It is everything I was waiting for.
