220F in 70 degree weather at idle for 7min
220F in 70 degree weather at idle for 7min
Ok i know that Temp topics have been posted a million times, but i couldn't find my answer in the search. I just put a yoshi exhaust slip-ons on my 2004 VTR. I was about to clock out at work so i started the bike to let it warm up for about 7 mins. When i got out there it was running 220 and the fan was on. I know these things run hot, but i am about to go to Bike week in Daytona and i don't want to be worried crapless about how high it can reach safely. I read that one guy had an 05 and the highest his got to was 275!!??
Here is the post.

QUOTE=mikecronis;32623]Been using it a year now on my '05 SHawk. Works, yes. Slower to reach fan-temp. Max temp used to be 273 degrees, now it's around 250.[/QUOTE].
I guess he is talking about water wetter. I read that some guys have expeirenced it running with new system but without a rejet. And some that they have used 5w50 synthetic and it dropped the temp down. I am due for an oil change. It has 3000 miles on it now.So i just need to know the temp i should get worried about when i am in heavy traffic in daytona. Can someone please ease my mind on this subject please. Happy days Joshua

Do a Google search about a product called Two2cool. I spoke to the company rep and may try it this summer when it warms up. You may also want to look at Engine Ice. REmember, Google is your friend
IMO, if the needle isn't in the red (or LCD temp blinking) and the fan still works then you're fine.
There are a few things you can do to help though if you're really concerned about it: ensure there is no air in the system and add a capful or two of Water Wetter.
