158.7 MPH-on Apple Juice????

Britains' BIKE magazine, with help from students at a local school, and Triumph, crushed and distilled 6,000 apples into a bio-fuel. With a remap of the ECU the 675 Daytona turned a 158.7 MPH top speed. There may be hope for the performance bike in a world of $120.00+ oil...

Quick google search found apples selling at 20 per British pound sterling (GDP). Hmm, so that's 300GDP worth of apples for a tank of gas. Convert GDP to USD= $600 per tank. I think I'll stick with the "expensive" dino stuff.

Also: spill a drop or two and find your bike the next morning encrusted with sugar ants and honey bees. LOL

That'd be ethanol and unless you are able to grow sugarcane in abundance at this point in time it is not a viable fuel source. If we are able to find a way to make cellulose ethanol then we might be able to consider switching.. But really Oil prices are way up because of speculation by wall street being scared to put their $$ anywhere else and the impression that it's value will always go up. Once that impression goes away, the true price of oil will fall back to a more reasonable $30/barrel. It won't be soon because people stay stupid for a long time though, see the housing bubble, this is just an oil bubble.

Well, it makes sense......Gasoline is derived from oil, and if we can synthetically make oil why can't we produce gasoline as well.

Do a quick search online under synthetic gasoline and synthetic fuels and as usual you'll find it's nothing new and america actually used to produce it, but cheap oil at the time caused us to abandon it. As of now it IS being produced, South Africa being the leading producer. AS USUAL it's up to our government to do it on a large scale to make a difference, which is why you don't see it. It IS cheaper and it IS entirely possible.
