I have D and Ds. They are pretty loud, but I have no clue on dbs.
Didnt I see somewhere you wanted to get rid of your shotgun setup? They certainly are original.
Goddamn paper pushers have nothing better to do? I guess there is no real crime to worry about in NH.....

whats M4s? i have stock cans in my shed, but idk these pipes are so bad ***.
bubba your DnDs should run about 105-106 dbs because thats what my friends did last year. ill have to make a video of the pipes so you guys can hear the bark... that is if the microphone on the camera is good enough.
i should look into getting a pair of these and fitting them onto the hawk.

At what distance away was the measurement taken? What angle? Directly behind? That seems a little high even for a VTR.
I measured mine at 140db at about 3 feet. It's loud but not nearly that loud. The number drops off really quickly as you back up away from the bike and even more when you are to the side some.

Aaron, you can repack your cans to quiet them down. Or, since you have your stock system, throw that on for the short ride over to RJ`s or Best cycles, get your sticker then switch back to the FBF cans. That would be a pain in the *** but it would get you a sticker.

mike it would be such a hassle and a half to revert to stock, i just want it to pass so repacking might be the way to go or maybe ill get lucky with the good mechanic there and have hime pass us and just sya i had stock pipes ifi got pulled over for it.

There's your problem! It should have been WAY more than 119db right at the pipe, so I kind of question their equipment. I don't know about NH, but all of the states that I know of with an inspection have a specification of something like 10 or 15 feet behind the vehicle. I'd check that out and make them retest. I can't image that it's 5 inches.

he Law on Motorcycle Exhaust Noise is as follows: (Directly from the New Hampshire State Safety Inspection Manual, and the State of NH General Courts Web Site.)
Title 21 Chapter 266 EQUIPMENT OF VEHICLES Section 266:59-a Motorcycle Noise Levels.
I. No person shall operate a motorcycle which has a measured noise level of more than 106 decibels on the decibel meter when measured 20 inches from the exhaust pipe at a 45 degree angle while the engine is operating at 2,800 revolutions per minute for one and 2 cylinder motorcycles and 3,500 revolutions per minute for any motorcycle with 3 or more cylinders.
II. No person shall pass for the purposes of the inspection required by RSA 266:1 any motorcycle which has a measured noise level of more than 106 decibels on the decibel meter when measured 20 inches from the exhaust pipe at a 45 degree angle while the engine is operating at 2,800 revolutions per minute for one and 2 cylinder motorcycles and 3,500 revolutions per minute for any motorcycle with 3 or more cylinders.
hmm im gunna go there be like get 20 inches away and 45 degree angle and see what it is then haha.

I got a ticket in Los Angeles by a cop who didnt even know the dB limit. He said the ticket was subjective. What a crock of ****. I told him he couldn't give me a ticket if he didn't know the law and so he busted out his little field manual. Less than 90dB is what the manual said. Then I asked him where his decibel meter was.........he got pissed and told me "tell it to the judge"..........so I did and I beat the ticket. Loud Pipes Save Lives!!!!

Sound for aftermarket pipes doen't matter any way. No ones makes pipes that are road legal. All pipes made are built "for close course compention only". No where on the pipes are they stamped that they are DOT approved. In the state of NH as soon as you do anything to your exhaust it is considered modified, even if you have a hole in it and you weld it back up, it is considered modified. So the fact that they checked your db level is actually does not matter. No different than anyone that runs flush mounts or mini stalk turn signals. Those fail also because they are not DOT approved. It all depends on how close you look at something. As a state inspection station I won't say what my oppion is on this on a public forum for obvious reasons.

its not the harley riders fault. thats a shitty statement. we all ride the same road. don't hate cuz your bike isnt as loud as some of the big twins. we should all take note that hating on another group of bikers only separates us. so check yourself lil rbrais. i ride a hawk and a harley. dont hate.

i dont have anything against harley riders as long as they are respectful and dont try and put the loudest straight pipes on and just rev in front of people. im not a huge fan of how loud mine are but i love the sound it makes. they used to be quieter but they have since opened up.
