superhawk - gone :[ ducati 1098 - in :]

i loved my superchicken and hated seeing her leave. now i have a '07 1098. all i can say is wow. the 1098 is incredible. she is very light, agile, sounds great, and has a ton of torque. the brakes are awesome and she looks hot. she's everything i expected her to be.

Byrdman 03-18-2009 10:47 AM

have fun on her :)

mikstr 03-18-2009 10:54 AM

Congratulataions, it`s a gorgeous bike! I rode one around for a couple of hundred miles and all I can say is, best of luck in keeping your driver`s licence :) The other possible downside is that the riding position (for anything other than the track) may have you become very well acquainted with your local chiropractor, lol

Truckinduc 03-18-2009 10:59 AM

Yes PICS

nice man

color: red
mileage: 2000
price: $12.5

i'll post pics when i get home.

i was going to buy an RC-51 but i couldn't find a clean (near mint) low mile one. i also have a buddy with a 1098 who kept raving about his bike. so now i'm a happy 1098 owner.

comedo 03-18-2009 05:07 PM

Congratulations! It's a beautiful bike. Have a great time.

Man, that's beautiful! No doubt the total package right off the floor.

tapatio 03-18-2009 07:42 PM

yes. all the mods i wanted were done. db-killers were removed so the bike is pretty damn loud.

VTRsurfer 03-18-2009 08:28 PM

:congrats: You lucky bastard. Keep the shiny side up.

And stay off the 8.

tapatio 03-18-2009 08:37 PM

Thanks. And yes, I will definitely be avoiding the 8!

Syclone 03-18-2009 11:06 PM

sex on wheels

tapatio 03-18-2009 11:25 PM

i like the look of the bike a lot compared to the 999. the dry clutch sound is neat. its only really audible while the bike is idling. at speed its not noticeable. i think ducati did a great job on this bike and the current bikes (848, 1198). i recommend you guys try one out. the ducati dealerships around here demo the 848's. take one for a spin :]

Hotbrakes 03-19-2009 01:16 PM

Nice. Take that bitch to the track and give her a proper flogging! What are the service intervals though?

Did your insurance give you a buy back option? Mine was totaled last year and I bought it back for $1100. Replaced the left fairing and she was good as new minus a couple scratches here and there.

mikstr 03-19-2009 01:29 PM

I found the clatter of the dry clutch at idle is strangely reminiscent of a hopped-up Big Block Chevy....

lazn 03-19-2009 01:39 PM

{Jedi hand wave} You want to give me that bike. {/Jedi Hand Wave}

Seriously, nice bike!

Yes, what are the service intervals for valve adjustment?

LineArrayNut 03-19-2009 01:56 PM

I just googled it: First adjustment at 600 miles, 2nd at 7500, then every 12,000 after that.

Not so bad, but Ducati mechanics like to charge your first born on top of an arm and a leg.

jbaxx 03-19-2009 03:42 PM

Holy crap that's nice!!

g_clarke_2008 03-19-2009 04:06 PM

Stunningly beautiful. Good find!
Enjoy it!

salmanilla2000 03-19-2009 06:09 PM

Did you go to the new California Academy of Sciences? I noticed the structure behind that beautiful 1098. Great purchase. Some day I'll end up selling my Superchicken for a Duc or chopper.
