"Provided $12.2 Billion in new funding for Individuals With Disabilities Education Act"
Did he now? Does he have 12.2 billion? I could write a bad check too

"Extended Benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees"
And what about opposite sex partners? Does my girl friend get these benefits???

"Appointed more openly gay officials than any other president in US history"
In or out of the closet - why does this matter???

"The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009: a $789 billion economic stimulus plan"
Huh, the GAO list the current 2010 deficit estimate at 1.17 TRILLION dollars. Just where did this $789 billion come from???

"Appointed first Latina to the US Supreme Court"
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

"Increased average fuel economy standards from 27.5mpg to 35.5mpg, starting in 2016"
Why not just make it 50? Uh oh we couldn't ride our hawks!

"Increased minority access to capital"
I don't have a freakin clue what this means!

"Health Care Reform Bill, preventing insurance companies from denying insurance because of a pre-existing condition"

I've been watching the freaking presidents since 1958, spin city looking back.

Your guy, their guy, doesn't matter. Everyone with an ax to grind hollers loud and tries to add to the spin in one direction or the other. Keith O. and Bill O. both bore after a short while. The chaotic noise has gotten so loud that the rate of distortion has now obscured the original content.

Post whatever you want, its all grist for the sausage monster. (Look for it, there is a joke in there.) I miss Hunter S. Thompson.

Now, what really amuses me is how those who draw a big paycheck for bloviating are able to rouse the rabble who get no compensation for echoing the blather of the talking heads.

Its a charade. Now go and sit with headphones on and listen to Pink Floyd's 'Animals'.

.
well said. you would think the number of people getting paid to do that would in itself have some effect on the economy. I honestly could not tolerate watching any of the pre-election stuff for the past 2 months. Is it age or has our sad excuse for informed, intelligent examination of issues reached such laughable proportions? I am tuning out.

Certainly NOTHING worthy of a Nobel. That award, much like the Presidency of the US is now a joke.

You don't actually think he personally wrote a check do you...

"Extended Benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees"

Opposite partners of federal employees already get those benefits. Reading is a novel concept eh.

I don't understand how quoting MLK has anything to do with this. What makes you think you will be judged by your skin color?

As a son to a father with pulmonary fibrosis, I know first hand how fucked insurance companies are with their "pre-existing condition" bs. He had to pay tens of thousands out of his pocket because he had crappy insurance and was diagnosed with his disease. You might think it's funny but that insurance practice had killed people, it almost killed my dad.

Wow you actually took the time to copy and past all that here but didn't realize every statement has a link underneath it with info regarding the statement. Are you literally that blind?

I won't argue the Nobel worthiness, but I'm curious why you think the Presidency of the US is a joke? Obama's administration has passed more legislation in the past two years than any other administration since the 1940's.. certainly thats worth some respect.

I saw all of the links, and they are all Wikipedia links, editable by all, so they hold no truth. Much like using Snopes, holds no bearing, since it is an uneducated couple in the middle of nowhere without resources other than the internet.

Your "links" are garbage, at least in my humble opinion.

Passing laws is worthy of respect? It's government run amuck and it makes me fear for the future of this country (which truthfully began long before Obama), but respect for these "achievements" doesn't come to mind.

I think Obama has reduced it to that level. Late night talk shows? Good Morning America? Please. The clown still thinks he's a community organizer. His promises were a bust, his supporters feel he betrayed them and his own party is discussing not nominating him for a second term.

Passing legislation is like passing gas, no one is impressed when it stinks and apparently Obama is full of it since he produces so much of it! Good thing we have the Republicans back in Congress to rein in this runaway spending spree.

Here's the Official Obama Truth-O-Meter:
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/

Pay particular attention to the broken and unfulfilled promises. I'd like to point out the "transparency" BS that failed to materialize when he and his party bum rushed that "healthcare reform" load through the House.

Noob,
Governments job is not to produce large quantities of legislation. Look it up in the original constitution.

Second,
as for your happiness over his expenditures... You should be appalled and pissed. He has stolen from both you and I in writing these laws giving away insane quantities of money. No he hasnt written a personal check, he has written a check with your money by just printing more money to pay the bills, thereby decreasing the value of every dollar in your pocket. The **** hasnt completely hit the fan, and 10 years from now you will either regret supporting this ****, or you will continue to deny the obvious.

KD Williams who penned the original Obamagedon thread deserves a kudo here. If you want some extremely pointed political humor this thread is golden. I was there and a willing participant. It's that rumble in the tummy of this nation that will result in a great change. The thread died but the views during its action were astounding. 300 posts - 16000 views - It's worth a read.

I'm not sure that unraveling a president that has been unraveling us is a worthwhile venture. I say we cut out losses and move forward. I'm not sure exactly how to do that especially on a local level but it must start somewhere.

You might think it's funny but that insurance practice had killed people, it almost killed my dad.

NooB, I'm really sorry your dad has pulmonary fibrosis BUT Obama won't cure him. If you have anything right here, it is that insurance companies are part of the problem.
Health care costs are escalating because free market forces are subverted by the collectivist nature of insurance.
3/4 of the people ranting about high health care cost are talking about insurance premiums - that is not HEALTH CARE. A doctors bill is HEALTH CARE. If the majority of us had to pay for our own health care then we would see where our dollars were going. If we had to pay with the dollars in our pocket, guess what, the cost would be a lot lower.
Same with the housing market. Easy money from NINJNA loans allows unbridled increases in real estate pricing. The past 25 years has shown us this with the past 2 years really driving home the point. Might be really low interest rates but banks are no longer giving away money. So no buyers. Suprise, supply demand curves are actually right. House prices drop.
Wanna take on capital gains? lets stick it to those greedy capitalists.
I just sold a two family house. It was my first house. I couldn't afford a house without additional income from renting the apartment. Kept it as an investment when I bought my current house. Sold it for $95k more than I bought it for - BUT I also put on a new roof, new furnace, new siding, new windows, new kitchen, etc. Over the years I put over $50K into this house. Sure I collected rents over the years but I also paid school & property taxes and provided a safe affordable place for my tenants to live. Between NY and FED I have to pay $28K in capital gains tax.
I say I, but guess what - it is the buyer that pays, because if I didn't get what I wanted, I would not have sold. My price was $28k more than what I needed to get.
This has turned into a rant and is off topic. I could care less about Obama, or Bush for that matter. Why did I quote MLK? because LATINA has NO place in the list of attributes that would make a good supreme court justice.
Government is the problem. In a limited form a necessary evil. Some of the founding fathers knew enough to attach limits to its growth.

By the way, MY Grandfather died in a French speaking Montreal hospital following a stroke. He was alive for two weeks. During those two weeks my parents and my grandmother did all they could to get him transfered to an English speaking facility. Their requests were denied.
So, nooB we all have our own personal stories.

If you want to live in a place where the productivity of others is taken from them to provide a rediculous level of services, go live in a socialist state - there are plenty of them.
I'm in the US because the advertising literature (constitution) claims I'll have freedom in the form of limited government. I'm here because I understood that the government does not own the means of production (I will NEVER buy a GM)
I am not so naive to believe it is as simple as I made it out - But I will work every day to try and make it simple.

PS
Still like your yellow bike

I suggested 'Animals' because it was political, a statement about how idiotic the participants in government become as they get involved in the process. How egotistical.

The cut, 'Yer Charade' could have been a theme song for every commentator or nominee in the running. 'Pigs on the Wing' is another.

'Darkside' was about a descent into insanity. I know the line of distinction is slim, in this instance, but I do so like splitting hairs, er, hares.

Not to take Obama's side here... But I just have to stick a needle in that particular bubble of yours... you aren't representing that very thruthful, but heavily biased...

You try that statistics with any and all of your previous presidents and I doubt you'd find they kept more than marginally more promises... Actually as far as overall percentage I'd say he's doing pretty well with a low part of broken/unfulfilled... It's pretty obvious that a lot will still be "in the works" when his period is over... That's how slow the machinery works...

This thread just goes to show why there is little hope for our country.
There are so many intelligent people out there who would rather bash than work towards a solution. The Reps. vs Dems. is out of control almost to the point of religious fervor. Until everyone works toward a solution it isn't gonna change.
If we are $700 trillion in debt why aren't the third world countries sending US aid?
Any country that doesn't manufacture anything is doomed. As long as the big corporations continue to outsource we will never get back on track. We have become a nation of traders and bankers.
Will someone please explain to me why 99% of all our goods is imported from Communist China but we refuse to even talk to Communist Cuba? What's up with that one?

Oh I wasn't defending the "rivalry"...

I was more interested in your observation of the religious nature of politics. It more interests me in how politics can quickly become a team or association rather than a discussion of individual points.
Maybe not politics but human nature in general...

What is the difference between a good politician and a bad one? Is it the "countries" (people) problem, or the politicians? Are the politicians acting in our best interest or their own?

I know my answers, but I think that people need to seriously ask themselves these. I have a real problem with politicians as we know them, and would like to compare them to the housing crisis. They are getting theirs before it goes **** up. What would happen if the wage of congress (and benefits) was based on the national average wage and benefits, as in they get the national average. Who would they be working for then?

It's cool Noob. I'm with ya. Course, that's not saying much; I live in Seattle. I will note that the Republicans are just much better at group think, that is, sticking to the talking points put out each morning and having everybody in the party talk about them and therefore creating "legitimacy" for a given topic as if it materialized out of thin air. The Dems on the other hand all tend to think for themselves and don't follow party orders well which allows for dilution of message and substitution of the party message with a variation of their own. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

Add to this all, you have a unified party (Repubs) unwilling to play ball on ANYTHING. For 2 years. The party of "No". Shameful. You also have a fractured party on the left with many viewing Obama as not "liberal" enough, hence they vote "no" too when the legislation doesn't prove to meet their ideals. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

This is compounded by both parties (though the Republicans seem much more astute and egregious at it) that have made an art out of telling an outright LIE to the public via the 24-hour-a-day news media outlets and then having it be spread as TRUTH until a fact checker comes along day/weeks/months later and quietly refutes it, to an audience that is no longer paying attention to it. They are too busy being captivated by the latest blatant lie being spread.
Case in point. Eric Cantor goes on the Daily Show and says:
"What you've seen (in Washington)," he said, "is a crowd that has taken advantage of a crisis back in late '08, early '09 and spent more money than this country has spent in the last 200 years combined, in the two years since."

What an asinine statement, and yet many buy it hook line and sinker.
Then, later on http://politifact.com/virginia/state...t-more-past-t/
the same source one of you used earlier calls him out on it. But by then the damage is done. It's evil that politics has come to this. There is no honor involved anymore and it makes me nauseous.

You've got health care insurance policies in this country that guarantee you NOTHING. All they have to do deny your claim. You pay in for years, needing nothing, and the moment you truly need it, they bend you over and hose you. Yeah, I'm cynical, but my wife and I both work in health care, so I see how it shakes out all the time.

So, we can have free public school for our children, libraries that are paid for with tax dollars, a socialized mail service via USPS, a socialized military and despite the fact that every other Western country in the world can do it, it's somehow wrong to allow people to have good taxpayer supported health care?

It seriously boggles my mind. But as my wife just pointed out, being long winded on a motorcycle forum isn't likely to change anybody's mind.
