RC8
Well, there out and I saw one today at a dealership. I was told there will be less than 50 in the US this year. Great looking bike with all the candy, but priced at $19,500 I think I'll pass. The one I saw was at Mission Motorsports for those that live in the Irvine CA. area.

And as per usual you guys are behind... I have already ridden one at the dealer almost three weeks ago... And I can tell you it's a beast...
At road legal speeds it feels like it's half asleep nodding off... Then you open her up, and damn... It's a bloddy monocykle, that's what it is...
It's mean for the track, its harsh and uncompromising... It makes the RC feel comfortable... But o boy does it have the rush...

Good luck finding it. If the numbers quoted to me are correct, there are 48 in the states and 16 are in California. That leaves 32 for the rest of the country. As far as the price, the RC8 has marchini wheels and Brembo radial calipers included, not cheap parts. Plus a radiator bigger than I've seen on some cars.

Sounds like a mean bike, the price actually doesnt seem that high when you consider Yamaha sold 500 of the 2006 Yamaha R1 LE's for 18k and it came with simular go-fast goodies installed from the factory (Ohlins suspension, Marchesini wheels, exhaust, ect)..... but I found one of those used for 10600 at a dealer the other day and I doubt you'll see any RC-8's going down that much in price so quickly.

i'm hoping that the rc8 will be a super hit (which it looks like it already is) and maybe cause KTM to think about catering to po' folk like me with a more economical model...maybe something to give the ducati 848 a run for its money.

I stopped at Mission Motorsports on my way home from work today to buy some oil. Our salesman, Adi, who's sold us 3 bikes (EX500, SuperHawk, SV650S) in the last 3 1/2 years wasn't there, but the salesman I talked to said that they originally were asking $30k for the RC8. They have had no takers, so it's down to list price at $19,495.
The reason I asked is that this morning I read the article about the RC8 and the 1098S in the December 08 issue of "Motorcyclist". It said that only 50 2008 1/2 RC8's were designated for sale in the USA. I guess they aren't that hot an item with buyers, since the Ducati dealer across the freeway has sold more than 20 Desmosedici's (not sure of the spelling) at $75,000 per.

I just cant justify buying a newr bike. The Numbers for the 'hawk (torque at least) compare to these (the gixxer 750, RC8.. )
I just couldnt drop $20k on a bike that (on paper at least) appear to BLOW away my baby..
She's old and cheap.. but she keeps me happy.
