last week here in the states.....
Well, This time next week Ill be in yet another arm pit of the world....
I'll be heading for another place, not Iraq , that was last summer.....
I would like to get a pvt message once in a while from folks who are interested in the human side of the war, not the political side. I am going to knock down my 15th year in service while I am there ...hooray! (sarcastic)
Anyway, if you guys/gals are interested, I'll start a post, giving some insight on whats happen behind the scenes, but without details... so Ill write in a "grey" way as not to give up any details.
sometimes the war seems to distant when you watch CNN... maybe my posts can give you a better picture form a Air Force Mechanics point of view....
I'll admit my job is nothing compared to a grunt kicking in doors, but being away from home feels the same wether you have a wrench or a grenade in your hands.
When i get home, my VTR will be in my garage.. all tuned and ready to ride.... first thing for me is to re-take the MSF course and then start riding!
Maybe in the spring some local guys could join me for a ride....
Jim

I would love to hear more about your experiences "over there". Thanks from my family, to you and yours. I'm a big Warthog fan. What an awesome weapon.
Good luck, and don't have to much fun!

Funny, being in the air force, i am so removed from the "front lines", but walking around here , seeing the young army soldiers and marines, already looking past thier age, is kinda upsetting. I am in a internet cafe now, there is this army guy with the 1,000 yard stare....been that way for a little bit now.
I see a lot of it.... those guys who kick down the doors and get shot at, they are the real american idols.
I just fix airplanes........and theres noting I'd rather do.
Morale is good among most of the troops.... If you wanted to do something that will directly help the troops.... donate to the USO....
any other military person on this forum will agree, they do a whole hell of a lot for us.

I know ive had fix wing out holding for me more than once. Take it easy over their, 15 years in is a great acomplishment. 5 more years and your golden.
