Five days ago I decided to write the Michelin tire company after some advice a friend gave me. A few years ago she said that she called an airline company trying to get some cheaper tickets to see her family for Christmas. Their reply was we'll do better than discount we'll give them to you for free! They said they'd give more stuff away for free if people just asked. In my letter I told them how much I like their motorcycle tires and was wondering if I could get some free decals for my motorcycle to represent my love for their product. I just received them today. I don't care if you're a decal person or not. The point is that companies are willing to give you free stuff if you just ask.

I wish. I think a lot of the members, when they read this, are going to think that until they get to the end.

 

It is true. Once in awhile you'd be surprised what you'd get if you just ask. Often the answer is "no" but that's what it is automatically if you don't ask anyway. Learned this when we were younger & I'd go to the movies with my best friend and I think 3 times in a row he asked "can we go in for free" and they'd just look at him and then say "umm, ok"

 

That's a pretty good deal with the free movies.

 

Scratch the decals, ... I'm calling every airline I can think of......Isle of Man - here I come!!!

Yeah, the important lesson here is "If you don't ask, the automatic answer is no".

In 1972 an art teacher told me that if I were to ask ten women, individually, to spend the night with me, two or maybe three would say yes. She was right. And she did.

Some lessons are well learned. The best are tuition free. Free is good.
